WOW I love all the work in here! I was going to post yesterday, but then the reply btn didn't work, so I gave up... gb, I love how you have all kinds of different styles!

otherwise, I've got an idea in my brain for making a new type of game in flash... well, at least with new characters. so, I attached a picture of a girl I made for it. I plan on photoshopping her so that she's 3D-ish.
and I used photoshop on that strong dude picture; I used extrude and then a whole buncha lights for the background.
hope you enjoy the pic! now I gotta go finish up memorizing some stuff for school. (AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH)

oooh how cute! I'm getting a thing for cats, now, too... long story. I like it a lot!! sweeeeeeeet background, sweet cat. you just want to go pick it up and pet it. :D good job! ...the black spot on the side of the face minutely makes it look out of size, or something... maybe the ears are a bit on the large size... other than that, I'd say it looks great!
I'll post my Love Angel as soon as I get the wallpaper finished.
yaaaaay I finally decided to take the 5 minutes to take the picture of the Angel of Love and make a nice fast background for her, so I've attached that to this post. I'm currently working on a large desktop wallpaper with her on it. I'll let you know when I finish it (sometime soon!!) Let me know what you think! I came up with another character yesterday, and maybe I'll post a few other of my favorites up. Enjoy! :D

I've never worked too much with reference models for 3D work, but I like how you have the profile and portrait already drawn out on a grid... Can't wait to see the finished product!
nc, I don't have any idea for how much any of these pictures would go for, if that's what you mean by "rate"... I"ve never sold any characters/pictures before, so I'm not a good person to ask.
I just got myself a wacom the other day and this is my first attempt at using it, it is not the best but im happy with it for a first attempt.

i'm planning on making a game pretty soon, and i decided to actually figure out my pixel art stuff.
so i got out the wacom, drew some sketches, and pixelized em (only 10 colors :D )

nice one melmann, makes me wish i spent more time getting better at drawing.
anyway, about the pixel stuff:
I drew the sketch into photoshop w/ a wacom at a large size, then scaled it down to a really small size, and used the sketch as a base for the pixel part (used the pencil tool as it doesnt anti-alias).
after that i retraced it w/ colors and some shading, the original pixel stuff was just the outlines.
after that, someone wanted me to make it dance, i guess it just has enough joints and limbs to do so. http://www.openedsource.net/ian/mf/f..._dancing2x.gif
That was made in fireworks, after splitting up the image in photoshop and putting it on different layers. (Fireworks can import PSD files)
anyway, the game is going to be pretty basic i think, and just a practice with pixel art.

larry, sweet Poe thing! the forehead is kinda... boxed? well not smoothly animated, like previous frames are leaking into present frames... well you're going to fix it up a bit, it might just be my computer... but it's cool!

I didn't understand when you were saying it's "not smoothly animated". I opened it on a slower computer and I saw what you were talking about. That's pretty weird how the keyframes mesh together. Thank you for pointing that out.
Yes, I have reshaped the hairline several times.(it still doesn't look good, oh well, back to the drawing board. Now that you said that, it hurts me to look at it. LOL) I also need to reshape his moustache on several of the keyframes around various phonemes. I need to work on the outer hair a little.
My deadline for the cartoon is 04/01/03. So I still have time.

hey, no prob, glad I could make you aware of it :) (I had a whole buncha stuff running on my comp at the same time and... I still do, but I've got tons of RAM. I need to optimize. :p) anyways, it looks a LOT smoother than it did before, except now there's a bit of that "meshyness" around the nose. it's not bad; it's quite small, although it still is there. I'm sure the flash file (looks like flash to me!) is probably a lot smoother than this; swf's tend to be that way, because they're the original vectors... although I still don't know why it's doing that... good luck with it, though! :)

I think it might be the compression. I checked the flash file and it didn't have the artifacts.

I decided on what kind of game i'm going to do, and threw out the robot as a character (too tall, wont be decent looking smaller).
it'll be a lunar lander type game, but with enemies etc, and an astronaut instead of a lunar thing.
anyway. sketches of the guy (I swear, the simplicity and undeveloped look of the character is so it'll translate to pixels easier.. yeah..)

they look pretty good bacon man, i think the style works a lot better when translated to vector/cleaned up though, and it shouldnt be too difficult to do so with flash or illustrator.

The only problem with the fox picture bacon_man is that it is lacking one of the most noticeable features of a fox - a big bushy tail!
