Great idea, I just skimmed the thread. Reminds me of Metamorphose by Escher. A piece of work that I've always loved (and a 3000 piece puzzle that I'm currently getting framed)

Comments: typing this before everything else was unvailed, i can already tell that i made my volley to plain. it was all fairly basic stuff, only part where i ran into trouble was with the rules but that was sorted eventually.
I was to focused on making a clean, flowing volley then throwing something crazy into the mix. my only hope know is that the other volleys kick crazy ass and mine just helps deliver them.
Shout-outs: just want to give a big word up to theWaste for this quality battle. it ran releatively smoothly and when there was a hiccup he got it sorted. also word up to dustar, your only a baby to the forum and you've got hit up with a trick volley. i'm telling ya, he's gonna be big if he hangs around here... ;)

Comments: My volley incorporates part of a upcoming Swift3D-only project that I decided to use portions of that just on a whim. Nothing special about this one... way more texturing than I'd rather tell, and way more layers than what's necessary and probably the weakest image of the group.
But I had fun regardless.

Comments: Upon seeing clicky2's volley I had a spark of an idea that, luckily for me, turned out to be a good bit if inspiration. This is actually the first time, in the Arena, that I have been able to see something in my mind's eye and be able to create it without too much dificulty.

Comments: I was lucky enough to get the last spot, so I mostly focused on getting the image to loop to begin with. The two sides were very different and up until the very end I didn't like my progress at all.
Because it was a unique position in the battle, I wanted to utilize that by working in a theme of perpetual life. It's a strong concept though and I didn't want it to have a stop/start effect on the image, which would ruin the illusion of a forever scrolling canvas. So in the end I made my volley a fairly subtle piece, focusing mostly on creating a gradual flowing link between the two pieces, as well as incorporating my chosen theme using colours and objects that evoke a feeling of gradual change.
Shout-outs: Now's my chance to kinda introduce myself to everyone at The Arena. This was the first battle I signed up for but 'cause I was last it took a while to get to me so I had my first real battle with squidlips. So shoutouts to everyone who visits here alot, but especially
- TheWaste, did you invent this technique for battles? I think you've started something ;)

Comments: For some reason I struggled with my image and it didn't turn out like I wanted it to, I think I rushed it...but the cool thing about this collaboration is that a weak image won't stand out so much because everything just fits into a puzzle and flow. So I think i'll be alright.
Shout-outs: Like everyone else, I'd like to give big ups to TheWaste for starting this...a very cool idea indeed. And also to everyone who was involved in this. It went very smoothly, no bickering, just a lot of fun.
Oh and I'd also like to thank my girlfriend for doing my taxes because i'm too lazy to do them myself. Oh and also because I'd rather eat baby mice than do taxes. Oh wait, and I also hate the feeling of being gratified for getting a tiny bit of money back when in the long run, I lost a lot. But they fooled me...I was still happy to get a tiny chunk back. Those bastards!

Comments: i was really wanting to do something escher-esque, but was having trouble finding my groove. i wanted the transition to peel to the next, and then the idea for the zipper hit me. i also wanted to write something like 'jump out of darkness', but i always incorporate text so poorly in my battle images so i withheld.
Shout-outs: to our gracious host, thewaste. and to all the arena regulars...i don't think any of us realize how much we are pushing each other to learn new skills. i for one am gratefull to have such a crazy laboratory to come play in.

it's sort of my fault, as well as wouter's and thewaste's (only because he's the boss). wouter modified the last 100 pixels of my image instead of just picking up where it left off. i decided that it wasn't fair for my image to be compromised due to someone else's mistake, so i modified his image as a fix. since that isn't fair either, we are back to waiting for wouter to fix/redo his volley correctly.
i agree about the flash thing and the text - just post that 7800 pixel image baby! :)
or, you could just blame canada!
like nord said, we are just waiting for repairations (or a responce) from wouter. He probably hates me at the moment but its really up to him what happens now... otherwise its not going to be fair.
I could just upload the whole image... but then i would get lazy and not bother with the flash. and that would be bad because everyone wrote bios and it would have wasted their time. on the other hand, im pretty busy with my tafe starting up soon and things are pretty hectic.
If things keep being really busy like this i will just have to cancel the flash. But would someone else pick it up where i left off? or should I just simply upload the image with bio's (as plain text) at the bottom and put it online that way? (html with tables/formatting...)

If it's going to take you a week or so to get this thing going, I'd just post the images in a wide table format. You can add the bios and such below each volley as fine print (don't want to detract from the images). Heck, if you want I'll throw togeter a template for you real quick ... and even host the beast. Just let me know.
