March Madness Tournament 2006

ITS OVER!

As you might have guessed, ctranter is this year's winner of the March Madness tournament. Congrats! You definatly put up quality work each round!! I look forward to seeing what you throw up in battles to come (you vs. O sounds like a battle we all would love to see).

I would also like to congratulate Hybrid for making it to the finals. I think you did great the whole way through and surprised quite a few people.

While I am rattling off thanks like im at the Oscars..... I would also like to thank gerbick and EVP for helping me run this tournament. This thing was a lot of work and they helped me more than they might realize (especially when I was getting surgery on my hand and couldnt do much of anything). You guys rocks!

RushVision, thank you for making a killer bracket graphic that was a big step up from the one we had last year.

Planet also did a lot of work for this behind the scenes and was a help.


And last but not least, Id like to thank everyone who participated. We had a huge turnout from active members, arena lingerers (the ones whose names you spot every once and a while under "members browsing this forum"), and some new members; many of which just signed up to take place in this tournament.

I hope to see all of you again back for next year's tournament but dont hesitate to stop in the Arena every once and a while. There was lots of impressive work done and I would love to see you guys (and girls ;)) all getting into some battles soon (maybe some grudge matches against the person who knocked you out of the tournament).

I'd like to thank YOU Dri, fantastic work as always with the orchestration of this tournament. I guarantee that alot of people are surprised at the level of skill that was shown throughout the competition. There is a buzz on the forum recently, and I think it is due in large part to your contributions. We need to keep this going, and maybe have something else in the near future.

Again, thanks for everything man, you're an inspirational frenkenstein mod. :hug:

And way to lead this Dri. I can tell it was a lot of work. Thanks, it was a blast. I'm looking forward to next year's already. Maybe we need an August something, or a World Series, whenever that is (to follow with the trend of sports. This way I can feel involved with all the big sporting events since I don't watch any sports, but the World series is fun to watch).

Great job everyone else. I'll be seeing you around some battles.

Dri, Thanks for pointing G and me out but this is your baby.....and she has turned into a monster of creative genius. You made this happen, and happen with style. Good show man!

I'd like to congratulate CT for total victory, and Hybrid for his performance through MM. Great work gentlemen. As goes to all of you, everyone who participated this year.....we had some killer images submitted and damn near everyone really stepped up their game for this event. Viva la Arena!

It would be fun to get another tournament styled battle in here soon.

I liked the idea of battle where teams are made up of people who went or are at the same college or college confrence. Or we could always do a country or continent team battle

ooo, ooo, ooo! Have 2-4 player teams in a roll canvas style battle. In other words the 2 teams going against each other would both do a team rollcanvas. Does that make any sense?

Maybe not another roll canvas. We should do something else for a while

The college thing is cool but I dont think there is enough people to go with that...seems to be just a BIG-10 thing.

And we tried the cooperative tournament before and it didnt work out too well...if i remember, by the time the final volley's were due, there was only a few submissions...and i dont remember a winner even being crowned.

I think March Madness is the perfect solution...everybody can play and have fun...but again, it's a yearly thing, thats what makes it so cool. Throw some more ideas around though...we'll figure something out.

only bad thing about getting something else together is the decline of one on one battles. Every other site i go to has team against team battles and hardly any one on one. I think it would be a bad idea to push out the one on one battles. It's what makes this place so great...

A college themed one could be as simple as making teams and one person from each team battles someone else on the other team. All would be one on one battles (like the ACC - Big 10 challange in basketball). No scoring or anything though, just fun
