You can kill with a King, but you can't move a king into check. The Bishop was protecting the queen - if your king tried to take it you would have been moving into check. So it's Checkmate.Quote:

I've been thinking... If we do some sort of tournament, would we do a leauge, knockout or...?
I don't think a knockout would be too good, as it will exclude people straight away... a leauge would be quite good, but I think it would take quite a lot of organising... sorting out who plays whom etc.
Maybe we should just do a ranking thing... everyone has a rank, and they can only play the person above. If they win, they exchange places, if they lose, they stay where they are/move down. Any other games would be friendlys.
The only problem with that is working out at what rank everyone starts... we could just have it random and let everyone just sort of balence out.
Well whoever is leading the tourny could simply draw everyones name out of a hat to see who would be playing who to start with.
Then you just make a tree and play winner to winner ...
