Hey, at least the PS3 has now full backward compatibility after the last update. ;)

yay ... and just picked up a Wii yesterday. Was in Meijer when they were opening up a new shipment (only had two more left) and I was lucky enough to be picking up some digital prints at the time. Figured, what the hay.
Of course my wireless network decides to go on the fritz when I hook the darn thing up. Thus is life.
My wireless network goes down when i turn on WiiConnect24. I fiddled with it for hours...to no avail. So now i just have that feature turned off and my network is fine. I'm stumped.
I'm using this http://www.netgear.com/Products/Rout...rs/WGT624.aspx
I have zero problems with either my Wii or DS. Both found and connected immediately, WEP and all.
The Xbox 360 used to do that to my network and upon some research I turned up the MTU on the router to 1400 and all was fine from then on...
Looks like it's time for an upgrade! Might go the wireless N route though.
Currenly have an old (like 3+ years) Airport. Barely transmits down to my entertainment center anyway.
wait for 802.11n to become final... if I were you.
Already thought twice about that after doing a bit more research on it this afternoon. Ended up getting the same one jAQUAN has ... only 40 bones at Staples. Couldn't pass it up.
So... when they launched and said it'll be fully backward compatible... they were telling what kind of truth?Quote:
Sony announced some changes in the PlayStation 3 specification for the Eurasia, Africa and Australia launch set for March 23, including less backwards compatibility than its North American PS3.
The change is due to a hardware switch within the console itself. Some functionality that had previously been controlled by a dedicated chip would now be controlled by software, which would adversely affect backwards compatibility.
"Rather than concentrate on PS2 backwards compatibility, in the future, company resources will be increasingly focused on developing new games and entertainment features exclusively for PS3," Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves said.
Oh well. Looks like they're already trying to trim some of their huge losses surrounding the PS3.
Find the list of compatible games - which will be made available after launch - right here...
Seriously... that's a backwards move if I've ever seen one from their original stance.
No EE & GS = less heat = less noise. So if you're not really interested in BC, that announcement is actually a good thing. :D
Btw, have you seen screengrabs of the next Hot Shots Golf?

Sony hates Europe.

We all forget how deep sony's pockets go. The way I see it sony isn't worthy of my money. I pity the poor sap who can't say no to them.
Not as deep as Nintendos pockets. ;)
Oh and even if just 80% of the PS2/PS games would work, that's still better than what the 360 does.
Anyway, I will get the PS3 for one reason: PS3 games like Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Motor Storm, Ratchet & Clank, Devil May Cry, Silent Hill, The next Team Ico game, White Knight, Lair, Wipeout, God of War ...

I was playing some basketball game at EB and the system just shut off and crashed mid game. Boooooooo!
