Pixel WAR!!!

Your welcome chuckles. Just thought I'd help out where I could, I even made the tutorial for it since I was pretty bored (didn't have work today but it can get pretty boring not working) So yeah, you need help resizing it in PS try here www.geocities.com/flashmasterwatts/ (click the shrinking tutorial link or save it, whatever floats your boat)
After going through this whole thread a second time, I really liked all the sprites that people were doing, made me think of some gigantic flash game project or something.

As for the tutorial as long as you get it down to 70 pixels that's what I think counts. I like drawing it big so then if you do some major shading mistake or you don't want to spend all the time creating the detail, you can then shrink it and it'll look great without having a few hours of time spent on it.

My God! How many times to I need to say, you resize your image before you create to a sprite. Look at the edges on your tutorial, they're alaised, no Sprite can work like that because the colors bleed on a background making it totally distroted unless you use multiple layer transparency png, which is hardly ever for sprites!

an attack animation, hmmm, ive never animated! i think the logical step is to do a walking animation, and thats what im gonna do... any objections? will this exclude me from the compo?

That's what I was going to sujest, believe me, animating is much, much more difficult to drawing a simple sprite!!!

ok, its not brilliant! im still toying with adding the sword to his hand, dunno though, its something that can be done at any point though! dont laugh!

pretty good for a first attempt.
when you get more experienced, try ading more frames to increase smoothness. and maybe add some colour.

i already did one static image! http://board.flashkit.com/board/ pretty much copied a photo tho, im sorting out the fat head and body, when im happy ill colour up!

hey, how do you put up an image in the actual box (like youv'e done) instead of putting it in an attachment.
also, when ever i try to save a lil flash anim. as an "animated gif," if i try to post it, it'll come up as one static image (the first frame) i've tried 'export movie' and everything...help!! :confused:

Quick tip mbenny, remmember that when a character runs they are usually propelling themself forwards and upwards, so you should make the movement go very slightly (1/2 pixels) upwards in the animation! Really imagine the actual physics, the key is "action and reaction"!

Im digg'n this thread... I need some help though! Im almost done with the basic coloring (no shading yet) of my FIRST character (he kinda looks like me :)) anyway, im having a hard time doing the face... any suggestions?
