Most global stats still put IE at over 80% and firefox around 10 or 12%. Amongst different groups the proportions will be different obviously, but for a general audience it's still IE on top.
On my site I get 55% firefox, 26% IE and 15% safari. IE users really don't like my photography I guess.

J-luv has a point. A big one. If FF becomes the leading browser, hackers wil say. ok lets kill that browser. I would turn FF into IE. The end of FF being secure. So as long as 50-55% of the people are using IE, then we FF users will be fine. And if you noticed with clients, they don't really care about security. Most home users, (ie. Parents,Kids, non- design geeks.) will continue using IE, because they don't care about downloading a new browser. They just say, ok, this program browses the internet. That program is IE, because it came pre-installed with thier computer. They are to "lazy" to download FF, because they don't care.Quote:

FF is not the be all end all answer. Honestly I have found that IE6 acts more identically on different computers/versions of windows than Firefox. It seems to me there discrepencies even between 1.5.0.3 and .4 the newsest build and forget about FF for linux or mac. The internet is what it is and I don't see a real solution any time soon.

There as many exploits with the mozilla browsers as with Internet Explorer, actually many more. The reason why people think IE is more vulnerable is because they hear more about the exploits than other browsers. Considering IE has a user base of atleast 80%, media cover it alot more than 3rd party browsers like Firefox or Opera.
Personally i have NEVER in my lifetime experienced any error or security breach by Internet Explorer. And when IE is integrated within Windows it is the obvious choise. 3rd Party Browsers should just die out in my opinion. They are worthless.
Well Johnny, I guess you havent tried the developer tools that you can download for Firefox. That alone makes IE look like a bad choice.
I use IE, but I also use FF. Website development is so much easier with those tools.
I like them both. I have always used IE but I tell you, there is alot you can do with FF. Give it a chance.

Been working with webdesign since i was 12 and now i am 24. I live and breath webdesign 24/7. If you don't agree with me on that Mozilla browsers are as vulnerable then give me your reasons why. There was a news article on this in Norway 2 years ago where a company actually traced down vulnerabilities in all browsers and IE wasn't as bad as many want to believe. And those vulnerablities doesnt even count for many normal users. Me personally i have never ever seen IE fail on me. Firefox is more picky when generating websites which can be a good and a bad thing.
