nice site looking good
Again i am looking for problems. I did find the the nav can get a person lost with no way to the home page.
Everything else looked right. See no problem with appearance.
I use reolution 1152*864 and have very fast cable so I cannot comment on the loading.
(The recipie with metric looked odd to me since I use english here is the USA. But thats me :) )
Home always available from link at top right, I thought , but I will check it. As for menues, know what you are saying, we were forced to go metric a few years ago by European Union, dont get me started!!!, the other day I bought some ply wood, I asked the guy about thickness, and he said it comes in 10 and 20 milemeter thickness, and the sheets are 3 feet by 6 feet or 4 feet by 10 feet!

Oh have your sound on for full effect.
Cheers
Mark
Link should be this http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mark.cordon/
Mark I cannot get your page to load, it looks from your html page source that you have not used the page that Koolmoves created fro you because it does not call AC_RunActiveContent.js which is the small javascript file required for your upload.
You need to export your fun file again, with html, and then look in saved folder, and copy the file above and your html page up to your server. You need not upload the swf again.
YIKES! It loaded ok on firefox, but Wow that was obnoxious sounds. It's a large movie so you should consider a preloader, I looked at a blank black screen for several seconds then was assaulted with a load sound that I quickly muted. The animation was fine, but if this is an INTRO to a website you might want to consider if you want to make the end user wait that long to get into your site.
I have to agree with Blanius MarkMason. Use a preloader and also change the font. And add a skip button. Get rid of the text effects. You are in the game for the fact that you have a site up and running. Great start and we can help in any way.
I actually was expecting a full site so when it became apparant that this was the intro only I would have to agree with the others that it severely needs a "skip" button and either a faster framerate or the effect speeds themselves bumped up because it gives the impression that the site is dogging or running slowly.
Thanks for your comments.
I understand what you are saying, However, I didn’t really make it clear what the presentation is for. It’s a project that we are working on for use as in-store presentations.
For promoting services, store offers, and advertising products. The presentation will be made in Flash, and then shown on computer screens. Also good for window displays etc.
If it was intended for a website, I agree that it wouldn’t work particularly well. But I’m sure you can imagine the impact it would have for the above products. Any thoughts always appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
Mark.

Been working on this sucker for a few weeks. Any reactions or suggestions?
Thanks,

Good job I believe. I like the homepage (the pics of her lying down). I watched the video, no problems there. Think she would send me an autograph pic?Quote:

EDITED. I decided to keep my thoughts to myself on this site.
So you never met her?Quote:

I am a fascinated observer-student of this board who gets a kick out of the unique mode of presentation the web offers. 10 years ago my first clumsy, old-school, HTML, also dabbling & now extinct website for my band took me and 12 of my musicians to Jerusalem and India.
Kind of like finding the mysterious magic spell book, messing around, and, poof...
And thanks for your menu code. I actually kind of understand it by now. Remus was very helpful in implementing his guestbook on this project, too. Even came back to check and see if it was working. I offered him compensation to no avail. Ah, chivalry.
Anyway - Koolmoves rules!
Fair enough. I was letting my craving for a cigarette dictate the tone of my original reply but got hold of my senses and edited it. Addictions are a b**ch :)
Remus is a good guy...lord knows I gave him his share of grief (yet another regret of mine). The site looks good man. The question is...what does she think?
Hi Chipal, It is a beautiful site. Very professional, with an excellent sense (IMO) of aesthetics. Some observations:Quote:

2) On the home page, the Contact link goes to the Links page.
3) On the Sounds page, the volume control slider and mute button in the media player console don't do anything - volume control in the bottom right controls sound.
4) On the Gallery page, mouse control of photo movement doesn't synch w/ < || > markers (center point is shifted to left). And there doesn't seem to be a perfect pause point (minor point).
In each section that loads, you need to make the bottom graphic an empty button so the buttons from the panel below it do not pick up the mouse events through the shape/graphic/image. That will clear up a lot of your problems.
For instance if you hit the "Press" button and the pic of the woman fades in and the three yellow text boxes fill....make that image of her at the bottom of that section either a clip or a button with empty functions/actions
on(press){}
on(rollOver){}
Off topic as it doesn't involve Flash, but if you have the right photos (e.g., sultry/seductive), and enough of them, you might want to create a downloadable screen saver. Include the site address discreetly in the photos. Possibly include your contact info somewhere to generate future business.
Shouldn't be dificult to put together, and it gives you another chargeable line item, or a freebie to enhance customer satisfaction.
This example has two button onstage. They each have an action that sends text to a textfield. It will slide two shapes over the buttons. The top shape is just a shape which acts juct like your images in that site and allows the button below it to track the mouse events. The bottom shape is a clip and will block the lower button since it is a button itself (with no actions). Itcould just as easily be a picture converted to a clip.

Set the background clip's useHandCursor property to false. This way you can detect the hit areas of the buttons over the blocking clip with the mouse cursor.Quote:

See - that's why I love this place. Look at all these helpful suggestions. Thanks, gentlemen.
Believe it or not - I had already solved that "ghost button" problem a few days ago with an actionscript item in the attachMovie clip of the eyes that buffers the loading .swfs. It advances the mother movie one frame to a blank frame behind each child movie. One of those cases of a dead laptop and work getting spread across machines. The corrected version is up now.
The Chris approach of turning the backround image into a blocking button might have been easier, though. Funny how so many solutions are possible.
The "Sounds" page player buttons seems to work on my system. I get volume control both from my slider and the control on the player.
The scrolling of the gallery is more of a challenge as the actionscript is beyond me. I changed some numbers in the script that seemed to move the center of gravity more to the right to compensate for the placement of the component on the page. It's not very precise, though. Probably need a different control system. I don't know if the original I downloaded had an actual "pause" state.
The screensaver idea is intriguing - I will investigate that one.
Hi, it's brand new!
www.sarahmicol.com
Ciao!
Site looks really nice. You have a very good looking site.
Couple of things to consider.
Allow us to turn off music on main page, This is especially important as it's distracting when listening to the sample music to hear the other music going as well.
In the gallery I'd rather see the large photos stay showing until you click another one instead of going away when you release the mouse.
Minor English translation thing. Contacts is Plural you probably want the tab to read Contact. Also in your bio you start with "I starts" you might consider changing that to "I started"
Thanks. There's a player on the bottom of the page, so you can stop the music. regarding the pictures.... I will add a slide show or something. Regarding the mistakes... I'm sorry. I made mistakes by typing! I will make corrections.
Thaaaaaaanks!!
Ciao
Sarah
Sir,
I didn't understand the "Contacts"/"Contact" point!
Sarah
oh, yes, i got it...
Great well done, one tiny thing, there is a vertical black line to the right of the gallery tab, is that maybe a box that still has a border?
OK Poker game is nearly done (well nearly working anyway) Right now it plays one hand only and doesn't payout... I have that working but still figuring out how best to reset for next hand and to payout winnings in the game, But please have a look and let me know what you think
http://bretlanius.com/flash/videopoker.html
I made something like this with the help of a book and turned it into an exe file for a real eastate agent. It is harder than it looks sometimes. As for reseting the next hand, you really only have 13 cards * 4. So you could "shuffle" after each hand. ( I did a "stoned" version put never posted it. I was trying to copy card playing after a few brewskies but never had the nerve to post it.)Quote:

Update!: Game is up and running. So please help me find the flaws I know of a couple of minor things. There are a few things I want to add yet, like the instructions. Also Note that the swf is only 80k
For the poker game,
Add a few more chips for us big timers. Like three 5$, 10$, 50$ chips options.
Instructions for people who have never played and it seems like any game needs a goofy splash page reguaredless of how good it is, but go ahead and change this trend.
With solitare you can now change the backs of the cards like wallpaper.
and since I just blew 22,000 dollars testing your game, please send a check to my office for reimbursement.
This is a great game and you have blow away my try at it!!!
Nice work with this as tmoore935 said add more chips but 10,100,1000 beacuse i ended up with $10,000 and i would have taken me ages to place my bet but other than that you done a realy realy good job.
Poker updated... History added, More betting options and fixed bug with getting a straight.
66k only not too shabby. An example of the power of Koolmoves.
Nice work
