Well, I'm just curious.
I've just noticed tonight that cl mods have been reduced to three mods. I forgot how many it was, but I believed gerbick and enigmus is suppose to be in the list. I'm not sure. I might have missed something here.

I've just noticed tonight that cl mods have been reduced to three mods. I forgot how many it was, but I believed gerbick and enigmus is suppose to be in the list. I'm not sure. I might have missed something here.
Gerbick's dissapearance was I believe his choice, for a little more info check the last two pages of the WH thread.
All the others were removed by Starkey, since they were MIA; they were on the list, but not visiting the forum, and the mods still there are the ones who can actually moderate and contribute. Some removed include Flashguru, and Nigma, along with the others who I can't remember right now.

Super moderators can also assist when needed, but the job is really that of the CL mods to take care of most of the work, so I'm guessing now jdura and bruce are going to have to work thier tails off.

I hear ya' gerbs, and that's exactly why the Super mods don't want to get involved, people should be able to take care of themselves; an occasional slip up, ok, but not this constant 'babysitting'.
For those who don't already, try visiting the other forums, I personally can talk about the Swish one. Things are run so smoothly there, the mods are great (they are in the CL too, I'm just commenting they are as well there), and do not have to do much work as people know the restrictions (more or less) in that forum.
Sad this can't [apparently] be accomplished here.

so true hocky, so true. the Swish forum mods do a great job. as well as the other mods.
and yeah, even the CL mods. I've just gotten upset with the lack of quality, even from me, lately here. Time for me to distance myself from the chatting, and stick to what I do best... trying to help in the 3D forums.
Swish mods (from what I've heard from reliable sources) do not come here for exactly the reasons as you said. That people can't take care of themselves at all. They're great mods and great people there, but they're all 'afraid' of the CL, as it's not as 'self-cleaning' as the Swish forums. I mean, there are so many people there who are not mods, but help out immensely, and it's just really a pleasure to be there.
As I previously mentioned...it's too bad this can't (or doesn't) happen here.
and it's also a pity the super mods have to spend so much time here, since there are so many problems, complaints, and issues that come up, and people can't deal with themeselves. Therefor they can't be around as much in the other forums, since they have to be taking care of things here so much.

That's the point me and gerbs were trying to bring down. People should be able to some extent take care of themselves, and not need a mod to babysit every minute. Sure there are messups, which is what they should be there for, but chaos should not reign here; people should take care of themselves, which for some reason, can be accomplished most of the time in the other forums.Quote:

i can't help much here without being accused of self-righteousness and stuff like that... oh well... good luck to CL and the Mods here...
I spend less time here these days for similar reasons, I like chatting with the members from here that stumble to minty forums and I don't recall ever having to close a thread, just sit back and enjoy sensible people letting loose and having a good laugh.Quote:

the help forums are self ,moderating to a greater extent because the discussion is focussed, people go there with a specific purpose, to get help.Quote:

People either provide an answer or leave them be. There is not the scope there to go off topic or get emotionally involved.
The CL on the other hand gives people an [almost] free reign to discuss what they want, opinions an personalities come into play and feelings get hurt.
Swampy, I hear what you're saying. But the lack of self moderation in the Lounge is not even normal. Obviously the lounge needs some more moderation, but to an exent, needs to do some self moderation as well. When people discuss things that are simply against the rules, they should know that themselves, and not do it.

They should but they sadly don't. People want in on every topic even if not something they're interested in and conversation becomes less focused. It's not a suprise with the number of members but it's also not difficult to not reply to every thread. I think restraint is just as important as moderation ..Quote:
