Do all designers do this?

This happens often with me, and people I have asked it seems to happen to them sometimes too.

Like you are drawing something or writing a letter on paper, and you make a mistake and instantly make the "ctrl+z" hand movement. Or look for the eraser tool. It's realy frusterating at times b/c you really wish there was a real life ctrl+z action. like its an instinct or something. You dont actually make the movement but in your head you do. than you laugh out loud.

other ones that dont happen as often but have, are the occasional moving of the mouse to pick something up. that ones embarassing.

*ponders a way to manufacture a real life ctrl+z machine.*

I do the mouse thing a lot.... :p


I also... type out "lol" on instinct
in mid-air or on the desk when I'm talking
to people... or on the phone...

that always happens with me, whether im drawing or writing on paper...when i have a lot of stuff to erase i start wishing there was a ctrl+backspace too...

Cool im not alone, i do the ctrl+z a lot, specially after 10-12 hours of work a day or non-sleep days u know, u just get that feeling that everything is not as real as usual.

tried it once on my television remote.

it's the touch face type.

although i was the 5th best student in my class (of 80 people i think), i really have a problem understanding things. I need to visualize them in my head. So if someone just talks fast without moving his hands or drawing it on a piece of paper, i just loose concentration and don't understand a single thing.

So, for example, when someone tells me "you must remember that on thurdsday we have a date" or something like that, i visualize 5 blue boxes, and then i turn the 4th to red.

When someone says "8", the shape of eight comes to my mind.

So i live in a very mind-visual world, if i want to keep understanding things.

I do it too, and i do it on games, I'm playing then i mess up so i push crtl+z. And when I'm working in Dreamweaver to see what it looks like in a browser i press ctrl+enter(that test the movie in flash) And I'm go "what the?' Cuase it doesnt work the i realize where i am.

I don't know about you, but I'm not...or so I think

I've never done the cntl-z thing in real life cause I never have my hands in the 'keyboard position'. However, I'm often at my computer, talking to someone, and I want to point out something on my desk or beside my monitor. So I try to move the mouse over it to show them what I'm talking about. It takes a little while before I realize that the mouse doesn't come off the monitor

I don't for the simple reason that I'm left handed so it doesn't occur to me if I'm not using a keyboard, especially when writing/drawing as I use my left hand for that and cannot ctrl-z at the same time :p

iim left handed too, dont you use your right hand? pointer finger on ctrl , ring finger or pinky on z?

Face it. The keyboard is not for left handers ;)

Well, I've never had that happen to me. But I "brb" once. Lucky it was to a geek, and they didn't notice.
