It's pretty nice. I actually like these effects. They are not too intrusive and (IMHO) add just enough flash-iness to the corporate look of this one.

Simple clean design, and the site flows really well. I too like the transitions a lot.
I like the transitions, the thing that annoys me is the sounds.
I know I'm bringing up the dead, but I'm really interested in knowing how those AE effects were made. Care to explain (in detail please) anyone? I'm not much of an After Effects person, so it might be a bit hard to make me understand...
Zak.
^^looks like one of the distort filters (bulge maybe) with a motion blur on.
Nice site, pointless AE
Wasn't this posted before?
Anyway, the site's not working in firefox. Only some parts show up.
But seen the site before, I like it but that huge preloader in front of that text effect is over the top. Leave it alone, site would be much better without it.
swet site, but the web isn't ready for huge preloads for 1/2 second effects that you only see once, wait till everyone has 3meg connections, then try it..
Really nice animations overall -- especially the zoom effect! Excellent.
But every part of the site is identical, more or less :( Would've loved to see a lil' more creativity.
EXACTLY...the effects are nice, but since they don't add any real value, they could be easily taken out. then what would be left is a really clean, professional site, that loads superfast...sounds really good to meQuote:

Again, I say ...
Yes, let's take all sense of style and creativity out of the site. Everything should just be bland, bland, bland for simplicity sake.
The limits on web design (out of this forum at least) are getting pretty frustrating.
The bigger issue here is that it doesn't work in Firefox, which is way more important than what transitions are used and whether we like transitions or not.
who's saying we should take all the creativity and style out of it? Are AE effects the limits to a designer's creativity? Are they the only way of adding style to a site?Quote:

I don't think anyone would disagree that the site not working in firefox (though it did when I posted it) is the bigger problem.
I posted the site here originally because I thought it was cool, Ae effects and all, I was only bemoaning the over use of these effects in sites when, in my opinion, they really don't add much value.
There are other ways for designers to be creative and add style to a site. I don't mind AE effects when they are well done and add value to a site.

Lighten up man. There will be a time that the medium internet will be ready for all your well loved eyecandy-stuff. But for now, let's stay realistic and not scare half your visitors away by using unhealthy downloadtimes for something so (insert word that describes the uselesness) as an AfterEffected texteffect.
Maybe it's good to push the boundaries sometimes but the let the time and location be perfect. This site imo isn't the right place to to it.
Hmm, I only brought the post out of the dead to ask about the AE Effects. Anyone care to englighten me about those?
I like the clean design of this site. However I don't like that a new window opens when you click a link on the Practices or Industry Solutions sub menus.
I'm sure they made this design decision for a reason. I'd just rather they'd continue to display the content in the content area in the Flash interface.
They could have developed separate XHTML/CSS, and Flash only sites. You get the benefits of both approaches.
Regarding the page zoom transition, maybe it could have been used only when you go to a section (Company, Services, Product Alliances, Contact)? Then an alternate transition that is less disorienting and smaller in file size could have been used, instead of reloading the first one. This could help to make the whole experience faster, or at least seem that way.
It is a cool site. Perhaps it could be improved with a few tweaks.
I did zak, look at my post further up ^^Quote:
