[AUGUST-PIMP] ~bubble islands~

Hi everyone!

Well, well, well... Here are some fresh new screenshots of the upcoming game "Bubble Islands", i hope you like them.

...And to refresh your memories:

- 10 playable characters (including 3 hidden ones)
- 3 main game modes (and sub-game modes like 1P.vs.2P)
- custom voices and full soundtrack
- developed in flash (online) and C++ (offline) and more (more)...

Release planned in a couple of weeks for the flash version. The offline version will follow shortly after that (and be smooth in fullscreen, hell yeah!) ^_^

Yeah, and the edges of the content-pane don't show up either (winxp, ie).

But still, nevermind that, focus on the game ;)

Wait, wouldn't you like to play with a finished version rather than something with temporary stuffs here and there? :) I'm sure you wouldn't like too much the infinite loop that occurs when you reach the last designed level of the "puzzle" mode because i didn't design the next one yet...
I'm sure you wouldn't like to start an "arcade mode" and see a simple text saying "arcade intro" then "versus screen" with no image or anything...
...and that damn soundtrack is missing, phew :p

you mean, left and right border parts? i tried to display them with a document.write() so the border is showing and is automatically set with a correct height (its height depends on the heigth of the content). I'm not a javascript monkey and i was proud to achieve that, too bad it's not working, doh...

as always, looks great and I'm very anxious to test the gameplay.

Why not put them in the background of a table so they have the right height automatically?

After years of progessional web development, things like this come natural to me. I used to use javascript for things like that too, but it's usually not necessary.

Did I earn a free copy of the game now? :) (but seriously, if need a beta-tester, I'd love to do it).

That's an interesting question... so far i'm using no compression for the images, and the mp3 quality is really great (i like to play and test it with such quality, the uncompressed images are also needed to post good quality screenshots). I started to convert the finished characters with a jpeg compression, quality 70. This already cuts down the file size by a half, but already starts to look ugly.
But yes the game is still a big game, fortunately many files are external (characters, soundtrack, background, floor, islands etc). The characters are from 200kb to 1mb depending on the amount of visual effects attached to them, but the final part of the developement will be to optimize it for a web release, of course.
