I just moved. I hate moving. One of the perks of the new place though, is that it's within walking distance to the commuter ferry to Manhattan. Door to door to my office, including the elevator ride, is 30 minutes. Plus I get to take a boat, which rules.
Unfortunately, it's $7 each way, and only runs during rush hour. If I do a monthly pass, that's $230/mo X 12 months = $2760/year in commuting costs.
So, give me some ideas.

Or get a Jet Ski and rented dock space.
Offer to carry peoples luggage while you at it... :S
I don't know, doesnt your boss cover travel expenses? Mine does.. When I was my own boss the client would pay for this :D
It's not client-based work, so no expensing.
Tell him you get seasick, after a few brown paper bags rolled into his waste basket, he'll pay for a new car or something

Seriously, the only other way to stop spending money is by dropping dead.
edit: even then thats expensive... so... essentially you need to dig your own grave then drop dead in it, and have some way of knowing it will be filled up for you.

Nope, my wost offender is Netflix @ $12/month. Music I purchase from er, overseas sources at a discounted rate.

The money comes out of your paycheck pre-tax, so right off the bat you'll save (insert your tax rate here)% off of your monthly commute. Assuming it's about 30%, it's about $75 per month. If nothing else, it'll cover the cost of beers on the boat! ;)
