Yeah, I saw the ad too and it blew my fricking mind.
While it's true that once in awhile, those kinds of things won't kill you, it ignores the fact that HFCS is in almost fricking EVERYTHING, and that people consume way too much of it.
"OK once in awhile" isn't the same as "not bad for you". I have a smoke once every few months if I'm blotto at a wedding or a bar, but that doesn't make cigarettes any better.
Yeah, we started noticing the new TV ads this week, and they drove my wife nuts.
She's a bigtime health nut that buys all organic, avoids GMOs, and grows what we can in our little garden.
The fact that our corn supply is genetically modified to produce it's own pesticide really sets her off.
As a state certified aquaculturist, I'm now reading in the trade that GM corn (BT) is now endangering our aquatic ecosystem by toxic pollen being blown into waterways killing off fly larvae that fish depend on for food.
Here's the problem. I think people don't get the whole "it metabolizes differently" and think "it's not harmful"...
