loading seperate swf files into one swf with a container.. numerous problems!

first of all is there a more official name for a 'flash container' ? because very little results come up when i try and search for answers!

can you load a container within a container, i'm thinking no but would like to clear that up also!

for example i've followed this tutorial http://kirupa.com/developer/mx2004/hover_captions.htm however when loaded up in a container nothing appears in the mouse over effect.. i've also tried loading jpegs into a swf via an xml which again works fine until i load it up within a container and nothing appears... there must be a simple solution right..?!

so what i want to know is if you can load a swf within a container and then load that container within another container...

and if there is a way of making the container compatible with other things such as that mouse over hover effect.. because when displayed as a separate swf it works fine but when displaying it within a container in another swf the mouse over effect doesn't work

Okay, say you have a movieclip. You load a SWF file into it, and then you want to load another SWF file, inside the loaded SWF file??

ok that is what i meant yea, but i'm fairly certain you can't do that! haha but anyway that isn't overly important, my main issue is that using a container (just the one) renders various functions in the loaded swf useless!

Yepp, found out - I am not familiar with those _level0 tags, but you have to use those instead of _root when using loaded SWFs. But, anyways, if you want to keep things simple, remove all _root tags from your loaded SWFs, and replace them with this, _parent or something similar, which still makes them functional - talking about AS2!

Well, the SWF files you are going to load - what actionscript do they contain? Look for any _root in the SWF files that are going to be loaded. Did you find any?

just remove the _root, so it looks like this:

That should do the trick ;)

_root goes to the root level of the movie, and since you are loading SWF inside another one, the root level is the SWF you are loading all those files into - and therefore, you've got to change _root to something else ;)

awesome that does the trick! however with one solution comes another problem! the swf that is loaded into the container has a scrollpane within it and that scrollpane loads another swf.. when you scroll the pictures the mouseover thing changes place.. how can i set it so it is where the cursor is? i'll upload an example now

What I basically did, was to create the caption from inside the Gallery, to the Flash Movie where the Gallery is being loaded, so that it's not affected by the ScrollPane!

was trying to figure out what you changed, was it just sending it all to _root?

ok well while we are on a roll..! when the scrollpane is loaded into the container upon click the scroll tracker a thin lime green border appears around the scrollpane!

Well, I didn't just change it all to _root, lol xD
I moved the Caption from the gallery, to the Container Flash movie, and yeah, changed all to _root, so that the Caption, which will be on the root level when running the Container Flash movie, will be generated there - all the codes will be aimed to it :D

Lime green border? I don't see it - could you send a Print Screen? I kinda changed the name of the .swf that is being loaded in the ScrollPane, maybe that's the problem?
