Okay ... I was reading this <spooky music> "over there"</spooky music> and I was sort of amazed at the number of people who tip when they get bad service (in any 'tip' situation) ... I do not tip well when I get bad service ... and I won't go back. For cryin' out loud, the people who are waiters/waitresses understand their income is dependant on tips - tips are dependant on quality of service ... bad service = bad tip = less income.
What denotes bad service, though? Kitchen problems? Not the server's fault. Staffing problems? Not the server's fault. Rudeness/general neglect = server's fault.
Staffing problems + good attitude from server = good tip
Kitchen problems + good attitude from server = good tip
No kitchen/staff problems + bad attitude = lousy tip
When I get good service - I am a generous tipper be it in a restaurant, valet, maid service, stylist - whatever. Bad service? I'll leave 8% - just enough to pay the taxes, but I won't go back.
What about ya'll?
