I don't know if this has been done here before. But it doesn't matter, anyway! ;)

What about somebody starting a swf film (like the ones GmF makes from time to time), e-mailing it to somebody else who makes another bit, etc, etc?

We would basically make a list of people interested, and then build the film bit by bit, one after the other. Basically is like the old game of "I start a story, you do another bit..." :)

Some people tried this before in a PlanetQuake forum, but it wouldn't work because nobody did actually start with the project. In this case, if you people are interested, we WILL make this come true.

What do you think? We could have the .fla file for one week, and then e-mail it to someone else, with a few more kbs in it!

Well, I hope someone is interested. If there is, I'll post in a few hours and see what we can do...!! :D :D

My original idea was to make a humoristic tribute to the Coffee Lounge and its members, but of course that is just an idea and I'd appreciate your suggestions!!!

Just a question... are .fla compatible between Mac and Pc? 'Cause if not that will limit us... we need to know if you people are more comfortable with F4 or F5 and if you've got Mac or Pc... :D

I would happily apply my limited skill in such an endeavor. But, I only have Flash 4...

phooka: .flas are cross-platform compatible. i work on macs and never had any problems with PC flas. Use either resedit or flashtyper (which is easier&faster) to restore their resources. PC users don't even need to do any conversion to open mac flas. i think we should stick to flash 4 for a while till flash 5 spreads.

Well: what do you think about the following:

- I could start a very short scene with Flash 4 (let's say 5 to 10 kbs at most).

- I'd send it to the first in list by order of appearance (in this case Pea).

- Pea could have a few kbs. to use: (25? 50? Any suggestions?). She would return the fla (one or two weeks later? suggestions pleaze!) to me so it would not get lost.

- I would send it to the next in list... I think this is better than a normal chain in order to prevent the lost of the .fla.

- Till it's done...

If is that OK by you, I'll start it next week. If anyone has a better suggestion, please let me know! :)

Finally, I suppose any one of you is able to receive and use a .zip file, so that is the format I will use. (Mac users, any problem with .zip files?)

Well that's probably the main problem... what if we just do NOT know? So everyone receives the .fla and decides what to do following the initial scenes but adapting it to her / his style?

Just one oppinion... any more there?

I have Flash 5, and if you stick to Flash 4 I can't help you. I don't want to downgrade. So, since you can't open Flash 5 .flas in Flash 4, you would have to sort the list by who have Flash 4, then at the end of the list, those who have 5 or some people may not be able to chip in.

Sleepless, I am sorry about it. However, wouldn't you like to collaborate making a sound loop, or something like that? Something that we could import to the actual film! We would love to include it... :)

One latest consideration: all of us have different styles, and will probably not be inspired with the same things.

That is the reason that we are allowed to change dramatically the style of the .fla when we receive it! (Just the part that corresponds us, though ;) ) Doing that, we will preserve the inspiration to do it, on one hand, and will show the different styles in the film.

What do you think?

I don't think we are going for an "extra-professional" look, but more for a different experience of swf designing... so Cion, we should feel free to use whatever we want. FX, but also talking: it could be a conversation between different people, who knows...

As I said, I'll start tomorrow, and I will send you an -e-mail with all the info everytime the .fla is sent again. You'll receive a mail before receiving the .fla yourselves: you could have a specially tricky week and not been able to do it!

I just want to add that this is a great opprotunity for all of us to explore our different design styles and collaborate in what could turn out to be a very unique experiment that furthermore will betaking place in a virtual space at different timezones etc.

I feel it'd be great fun and a success and we could always publish it afterwards when it's done - I could set up a site up with everybody's details and could publish on the BBC's Artzone site that features digital art/experimental interactive projects etc......

Let me know if you're happy with that thought and if you have any other ideas...

That is excellent news:D ..... Haven't got icq but my email is [email protected].

Will get all the details from Artzone and will speak to some of the producers there to see what the deadlines are and if therea any requierments/technical considerations in order for us to publish there.

I do see it as a communal, experimental, 'hyper' :p project which will bring together many artists from different disciplines and of various styles so I think it'd be very interesting.

I'll stiryboard this week and will email you some stuff by Friday. It'd be cool to see many ppl involved from here:)

I love the idea of hosting the project on BBCs art section. Thanks Aria! We should set some guidelines - per contribution size, etc. And have some sort of meeting of the minds at the end to make it all come together. Just my 2c. This is going to be great! :D

This is an excercise the surrealists used to do. It's called "Exquisite Corpse". I actually did this with my GF with frame by frame animation, I'd do a frame, she'd do a frame, etc. and so forth. Count me in, yo!

I have just started a Flash 4 .fla and I'll be working on it all this week. My brain is already screaming for relax, but I can't stop now. Coffee is my magic word nowadays...
