eh...bleh
Actually, This is not the same mixer. Originally, we had partnered with Crash Media / LoopLabs to embed their mixer technology for Version 1.0 of Bacardi DJ.
Based upon the feedback received, our developers sat down and built an entirely new Mixer from the ground up for Version 2.0. This one is acutally much more elaborate than the first, in that it allows for linear timeline sequencing of mixes vs. channel-based editing. More along the lines of some of the commerical apps available in this arena... But, unlike commercial apps available, this one is architected entirely in Flash MX (with ASP.NET on the backend). It was a welcome challenge to see how far we could push Flash MX. I can definitely say everyone at the studio is very pleased with the result.
We plan to continue building on the Mixer technology even further over time... I know there are several new features for the site already being contemplated.
At any rate, thanks for noticing the update! Very much appreciated.
that mixer is so intense. just like a real program or something. only on a webppage. fast loading. great visuals. nice work guys. freakin superb
hey Novak glad to see ya back on the boards! :)Quote:

this release was extremely impressive as far as i'm concerned... groundbreaking approach to the uses of flash
great work
I didn't like the loading sequence. Loads the interface, and then loads again..got a bit tired...everything else's well....., *speechless*..:D
Wow! Very impressive!
It was almost like I was using my music software there. Very nice work with the recording feature and addition of the timeline. Definately some ground breaking work for the integration of music/flash. Respect.

I really really hope these guys are joking...is this really open to debate that is an impressive piece of work? can one of you (Prototype3X or kony2003) please show me something you have done so I can see where you are coming from?

no man, i have my own opinion if i dont like this, then i could say what ever i want, i dont have to prove myself or my work to anyone to meet standards. its like people have to to go along with everyone else with havin a positive comment. i liked the mixer, the design of the site wasnt my taste though.Quote:

Hehe. I've noticed that he avoids the harsh debate in this forum, but always pops up when the 2A discussion is civil and professional. Kudos! By the way, let's please stop the harshness before it gets out of hand. It's okay for someone not to like the work here, even if one can't produce something similar on their end. Just relax.Quote:

Civil and professional is definitely a good thing! While I don't expect everyone to love the design overall, the primary reason I originally posted was to give some background on the Mixer itself, which can easily be missed in the process of reviewing the site.
For me, I rather like this design; I find that it plays off the bacardi.com parent site (which was not designed by 2A) very nicely from a color pallete perspective, while still retaining many of the qualities of BacardiDJ v.1.0 and not straying too far from the audience it was gear towards.
Glad to be back around the board, it's been so busy around the studios recently, that I haven't been able to keep posting on a routine basis... I guess that is good and bad.
FK's 2A 'Rip' Agent ~~ lol, thats hilarious!!
anyways, great site!

haha... grrrrrr...
Sheesh. Why does the 2A topic always breed anger and hate? Grrrr is right. From me. Please settle down children. Anyways, Tony, good to have you back. In my opinion, all 2A representatives that visit FK should be offered modships. Especially for the cool sites and design and graphics forums. Who better to judge than the some of the leaders of the field?
LMAO, truQuote:

Miles, you are the obvious exception to all rules. Especially given your affinity for plaid.Quote:

It's so fun to read all the references to Aversion and his affection for plaid. :D
Hey Tony, you guys should add the option to search through the entire list of mix submissions under the 'listen' section. I wanted to check out what people have come up with so far but was basically throwing out random names just to hear them. Just an idea.
btw...are those 2A tracks in the music player by Eric Jordan? I remember reading somewhere that he was a dj in his spare time. Either way...great stuff.
Funny. I was going to suggest the exact same thing just now. I also didn't see a ratings system. That would be a nice addition, unless I missed something.
Actually... You can pull up the full list in the Listen section just by pressing search with no argument in the dialog box. At least it just worked for me. Is this what you are talking about? Let me know either way. I also suggested a sort option, so that the list can be quickly reordered by Track #, Title, DJ, etc. But that hasn't made it's way in just yet.Quote:

The first "2A" track on the Bacardi DJ music player was produced by EJ, the other two were created by one of our other audio gurus... But you are correct. Eric spins now and then at various venues in Los Angeles and Orange County.
Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah... That's a great idea. I think a ratings system would be useful. Afterall, we do have a "voting" mechanism that we built for contests when they are in progress. I'll bet we could adapt that for general ratings. The key with a good ratings system (or voting system) is to avoid (or at least mitigate) "ballot stuffing".Quote:

Again, great input! Thank you.
Let there be no limit to the interactivity of this website. ;)
Ahhh....there we go. Maybe you should put a 'show all mixes' button that basically performs an empty search for all those simple minded folk like myself that spent 10 minutes trying to think up clever dj names when all he had to do was click a button. :pQuote:

Sorting options would definately be a good addition as well.
Ahahaha... I gotta laugh, only because I did the same exact thing during the beta. We do need to do something here, I totally agree.Quote:
