Gerbick and aversion fighting to see who wouldn't hit 10,000 posts first.
Everybody "confused" in how my post count jumped from 55 to 760 in one night(lol, all CL posts too)
my best momeory was when flashkits main page had useful information, all of the subsections actually had content and were updated, and when the main page wasnt filled with 5000 piece of crap ads before the site came under the control of internet.com aka satan. those were the days.
jezza changing my title to fulltime idiot, markp.com changing the footers to some god awful size, starkey's arrival, iFMP's suicide note, Dzine's cricket story (search for this one), HBM, and me becoming mod (much to the disbelief of many)
i liked starting the 1 millionth post thread - taking wagers - and then having my bud Chelle not only get the date right, but actually be the 1 millionth poster.
my favorite 'horrible poster' to 'banned poster' would have to be 'katnipped' <-- but it was spelled differently. that was some crazy stuff :D
Gerbick's name censored...
and then us trying to figure out why and how to type it uncensored.
Didn't work. I got really sad. :D
That was when I was new here.
this was a recent one - that thread where someone used the 'username code' tidbit to make it look like all these people were posting really nice things about you. that was too funny watching people fall for it one by one - genius!
:D:D
not really a memory since this happened a year before i became a member(i used to go undercover in FK using a different SN before i registered with fospher.com), but I was bored one day, and found an old thread where gerbick and some other members are trying to get rid of the "new member" title by going over 30 posts...:D
oh yeah, i remember that. great stunt :DQuote:

This is one of those times when you hate being the webmaster and knowing the inside scoop.Quote:

I'll put it simply, Satan has done a lot more than you are aware of, to keep this site available.
FK is a very expensive site to keep running.
BTW, thanks Gerbs :)

domo.zip
(yep, they're all there)
I'm sure that it is, however the forums are about the only major aspect on the website that I have seen not decline in content and quality. I am also willing to bet that the forums are what causes the need for so much money to support the website.Quote:

I am sorry to sound completely ungrateful, because I LOVE the forums here. They are the most active and useful forums I have ever found. It is just that FlashKit, before internet.com came into play, had much more quality content, and much fewer ads but seemed to be doing fine. I can completely understand that a number of ads would be needed to fund the site, but it has gotten to the point that the homepage is all ads. There is a huge 750x130 banner, 8 "partners" who have taken over the left column where there used to be the featured site, etc etc. Ther are just tons of ads. The ads go further down the page than the content. Some of these ads are of course needed, but I am willing to bet dollars to dimes that the ads pull in much more revenue than the costs of the flashkit website.
I guess if I were in the owners position, I would have probably joined internet.com for the financial benefits, however from a visitor's perspective, the site has sadly gone downhill and the quality of the site is much less than it was at one time.
There are probably tons of factors I don't know about as well, but these are just my viewpoints. Despite my pessimism on the site in general, I thank the directors sincerely for the service of the forums.
My FIRST post ever, yep I'm old, I just came out of the closet lately :)
:cow: :cow: :cow: :cow:
dan the cow day
:cow: :cow: :cow: :cow:
The forums are approx 2-5% of the cost of running Flashkit. The forums account for about 200,000 pages per day. We currently serve over a million pages each day.Quote:

This is just my estimate, BTW. I don't know the actual figures.

When iFMP was appointed FK Fashion Editor.
I reckon that one where MarkP had made a little nice looking image and everyone put it in their footers, then he changed it to a 500*500 image saying I LOVE MARKP.COM. That was a giggle... :D
I bet not many people here remember the banning of Elvis?
No that was funny to watch.. I wonder where he is.. dead
I used to like the 'hour of flash' competitions, they were great.
Brings back some memories and old faces..
