anyone remember this one? i think i made $50 or something from this. funny to think about it now. they may even still owe me a couple cents. their rates kept dropping and dropping until you had to surf for weeks to make enough for a stick of gum.

I always thought that was a scam.
pheck, I'll be out west prob come the first week of August... I'll hit you up if plans don't fall through mang!
right on, hope to see ya. no it wasn't a scam. during the net boom i also signed up for x.com (paypal's parent) and got $30. i bought $30 worth of gas and then cut up the card. nice. anyone else have "free money" experiences from the good ol days?
oh man i was the king of free stuff back in the day..
I made something like $40 on the paid to surf banners...spedia.net i think. Then I had free internet for a long time by having a banner on screen. And from Qool.com I got a lot of free stuff including tshirts, rock and roll elmo, potatoe head, and other stuff. And then a few tshirts, mousepads and other freebies from all those companies.
And then I made a bit on click ads on my website. They had high payouts back in the day...some like 10 to 20 cents a click. :D
Ahhhh the good old day :)
About 3 years ago, I hosted a "goods" server, and to get on the server, you had to sign up for ebay serving me as the referrer. For every person signing up, I got 5 bucks. Eventually, I earned about $200 untill someone emailed one of the ebay associates informing that I was planning a scam.
^^ Please dont give me any anti-warez ****, I buy my software now :)
Also, I used to host a 'money-making' site...got like 20 bucks thru all the referall links. Then I signed up for this thing called CashFiesta, where you'd have this banner at the bottom of your desktop that would count up how many minutes you've been online, and for every minute it'd give you 30c or something. I made 24 bucks off of that too. And I'm not going to say "Ah, the good old days", cause those times sucked - I have it much better off as a multimedia developer now.
I made my free money the honest way - by switching back and forth between the long-distance telephone companies when they were offering cash to use their particular network.
I must've made close to $300 off of those idiots.
:)
Give me $100 and I'll tell you a way of making money on the net ;)
Hmm, subtle, devious, yet masked in rich sincerity.Quote:

nevermind him, 'cane. send the check to me instead.
Hey CVO, if you're going to let a little thing like colloquialisms get in the way of making some dinheiro, then I'm not sure that you're the guy I want teaching me about scams on the net.
;)
[edit]
Will do, gerbs -
Now here's a guy we can all take a lesson from.
:D
That last cheque you sent me is still bouncing about somewhere.
I made close to 5,000 online when I was 13, and this was in a matter of months. It was late 1996, I had signed up for one of the first affiliate programs refferring people to reel.com movies site.
My website "Rye's Beavis and Butthead Page" had a top listing in yahoo for the being the second most popular site (next to MTV's). It was receiving close to 20,000 visitors/day, and even more than that when the "B&B do america" movie came out.
I must have sold close to 1000 copies of that movie and B&B stuff through my link at about $5 a pop. Again, this was all in a matter of 2-3 months.
Oh I also stole stuff from Mypoints, Funnymoney, and Beenz.com.
Back in the net boom, you could make $10 in one day signing up for offers with no credit card needed. I must have used a good 50 email accounts to get free stuff than simply closed the accounts.
PS: stealing is wrong kids
so you all spend all your free time online? God almighty. ;)
i never made a penny from the net -- I earned money through "offline" work like working in a garden centre as a gardener and doorman @ £9/hr.
COUGH!!!!!Quote:

I still have the old version of Netzero free internet.
Not exactly, I simply got contacted by reel.com requesting to put a few links on my site. I stuck it there and did nothing with it. A few weeks later I got my first check. I was mostly in it for a free t-shirt offer :DQuote:
