After the success of the last one of these i thought it was about time to start another! Just post up what your working on... beta engines / screenshots / links. Tell us a little about what your slaving over at the moment :)

So I've been trying to put together a gameboy game.
I plan on calling it Kremblin Games, its going to be a mario-party type game, with (hopefully) multiplayer.
I havent gotten to far in it yet, still working on the menu screen, heh; but I plan on it being a big success.
I really liked the old thread, it had a nice sense of history to it. Oh well, life moves on...
Thrustar still isn't finished :( There are a couple of bugs, some of the German translation and a whole tileset ( + 10 more levels ) to finish yet.
I've never had a game drag like this, but actual paying work has got in the way, which I can't really complain about.
Finished a re-skin of Ultra A for a client ( For re-skin, read 50% re-write. Top tip for everyone, write OOP code to start with, cause when you come back to remix a game it takes forever ! ). It's not actually live on the clients site yet ( When it is I'll be pimping the hell out of it here, so be warned :) ) but he's a little taster

I'm also doing a big mix of MJ-12 which I think I've got a client for already, which is pretty sweet :) I'll post a WIP screeny of that later.
I think I've also got a re-skin of the JBJ Sisters on the cards as well, not to mention 2 games with dayDream, a blaster ( Think 1942 ) with Tom ( And some tunes / SFX for his and dd's stunning ISO racer ), a couple more projects which I'm not a 100% sure about yet ( Although one may well be a R-Type game ), and then hopefully I get to do a new game for myself... Oh, and a big mix off-line version of X too. Phew.
( If only I got as paid as much as I actually worked, I'd be typing this from Rio ).

im working (stil) on my lego game. ive got the main stuff fixed, just need to update some collision detection and then some graphix. then im selling it to lego :p
im also working on Barcode Bots with Chopsticks, but i got to learn java for the socket server first ;)
then im working on games for the flashkit minigame marathon. and im always on the lookout for a server for my website...

i just hate the fact that marmotte will always make something that will blow my head of. when we havent heard from him in a week or so, we know he's brewing together something awsome...
my game is a construction game, where u build things out of lego bricks. i want to keep it a secret till i release it (whenever that may be...)
marmotte's game plays as good as it looks too! ( Yep, I'm one of the lucky one's whose has a sneek peek or two ).

It's so sexy being able to play your game full-screen with joystick control, and not have to worry about IE stealing a big chunk of your processor time or filesize. I never wanna do another 200k Flash 5 compatable game again ;)

there's a MAC program that does the same thing, and it was quite cool. you choosed your lego shape, rotation, color and all...

about the game: you play as jojo, a little improvised knight, and have to find your way and fight against the final boss (i worked a lot for the storyline as you can see). at start you are very weak, your only power is "ice armor", but you'll find later a fire armor, and earth armor (in the screenshot, you are wearing the fire armor, but throwing ice shots: you'll switch through armors with a simple click though). also, you'll learn some abilities as slides, super double jumps etc... these abilities are used to progress in the game, and find secret areas... and new worlds (ice world, lava world).
the armors:
> ice armor: provided at start. you can freeze the enemies thanks to it (like in the screens). then don't forget to inflict them physical damages or they'll escape and become angry (faster, more dangerous, and... red).
> fire armor: you can burn them (plus other little things to progress), and they are dying by themselves... but they are running everywhere, so be careful not to be hit (you'll discover hidden hearths containers during the game)
> earth armor: this one directly inflicts physical damages, and is slow. BUT you can destroy non solid walls with it (look at the first screenshot walls ;) )
game progresses: the engine is going well, all i said earlier is *almost* implemented, with additional stuffs: destructable tiles, disappearing tiles (you'll have to find the good timing), and other little things a little bit everywhere. the enemy with the spikes really wander everywhere in the stage, and be careful, if you walk below him, he will fall at you.
the enemies already have a weakness system (they can be more vulnerable to ice attack for example, you'll have to experiment. suspect some cooly bosses), and the player just slides like a maniac in the ice world. imagine that screen: you are in a screen with disappearing platforms, spikes at the bottom, and falling rocks. erp!!!
what i need now is to draw the other tiles (as you can see, the first world is already well advanced), that's the main thing missing...
btw, there are now around 70 maps for the first world.

Been busy with payed work, websites, e-commerce and such like.
However..
I have just formed a new company with my colleague and here are some screenshots of the promo game ready for release in about a month.
inspired by the shockwave abduction game on miniclip, percypeas scrolling engine and of course the ever inspiring Heli Attack 2.
Basically you have to abduct animals from earth while the angry farmers do their best to stop you.
Powerups include:
invisibility, shield and a big rocket to blow all those farmers up.
Please note: graphix are temp while gameplay is sorted. Much refining to do including title screen!

i´ve already played squize´s standalone version,its shaping up nicely =) (and it doesn´t look much like flash already :) )
and i´ve also already played marmotte´s game (you see,i´m betatesting a lot of great games next to flash and swift v4 these days =) )
marmotte´s game is great,it doesn´t only look like a console game in stills but looks even better in motion (very cute enemies,crawling nicely around platforms,smooth character animation and very well done ice attack for example).Even better,the gameplay feels like mario with some improvements =)

i have also seen the porgram ur talking about, but this is going to be quite different. it is kindof like tetris, but not too simelar.
murraymint, i love those graphics man. i dont think the menu looks too cloddhopping (if that means its cluttered up. if it doesent, forgive me :p).
tom, unless ive forgotten when i hit my head against somehting, i dont think i know what ur working on. i'd love to see though

yes, i was just thinking of the way to implement it. i was thinking of the double jump, but no (since you have to switch from armors to armors in real time, it would be not good to have to switch just for a jump). maybe the ability to fly during a short period, or just make the enemies fly in some kind of tornado. i'm not sure about that though, i need to improve the idea...Quote:

some kind of wind spell would be good. kinda like zelda the wind waker. like u have to jump form cloude to cloude and you can change the wind direction in realtime with the mouse (position relative to screen center). then the directions of the clouds would change.

it sounds nice ihoss... (btw i never use the mouse feature to any of my games, only if it's necessary... i'm a real key player :D )

you´ll be able to save the map as *.xml,*.txt or *.as file

squize is polishing his game as offline version with screenweaver.
with screenweaver you can add joystick support and change resolution (and therefore let your game run with higher performance)
(and do much more you can´t do with flash alone).

Hey hows it goin? Its been a while since I've been to this site but it looks like everythings heatin up... some of these games are looking amazing, like marmottes, in particular whos making a game which is almost similar to a huge game I've been planning for the past few months. It's also a platformer with a huge variety of things included. I have no idea how it will work out when I actually start but I'm goin to continue planning until I get back from this foreign exchange business to Brasil. I'm planning it out so that I dont waste my time when I start making it looking for ideas..
Title: Elephanté vs Panpy
Type of Game: Scrolling Platform Adventure(/puzzle)
Languages: English, portuguese, spanish
Idea: The master pimp elephant of this small island comes across another pimp named panpy who starts selling fake hoes (penguins). When he finds out they exist, he gets mad out and decides to move out at the desert on the other side of the island where the panpy hoes were being spotted. He meets some playas along tha way to help him out, as well as learns new tactics and finds weapons to adapt to the panpy hoes. Theres an option to leave the panpy hoes or not, but it gets harder without the abilities you learn with killin them.
Basics: 32 stages, 6 areas, Desert(completely planned), Ruins(completely planned), Jungle, Beach, Towers, Island(completely planned). (Will take up to 6 months to make.) Almost Complete AS (w/o bein tested), 9 weapons, 10 original abilities, graphical sketches (Incomplete) and daily schedule to keep sh* organized.
To be planned: 6 types and strengths of panpy hoes, various other kinds of enemies, weapon/inventory coding, level music by kap. en.
Tell me what you think of this idea if you don mind letting me know//

atm im working on my egyptian platformer. well i was untill school started 4 days ago. its my last year and I havnt really had time to play with it again yet :(

ugh, still (after about 5 months or so now!, im a slow worker!) working on dePict my cheap remake of ISketch/InkLink. havent worked on it in ages actually, was in the middle of adding a TrueColour Palette to the game instead of just having 21 or so colours. Then i got bored and havent touched it since...
On the graphics/screenshots side: well at the moment it isnt very graphically intense at all. Just trying to get all as, php and my socket servers all working in synch. Plus i cant do graphics to save my life. oh well

Well, i currently have 3 projects :
the end of Two Kingdoms, that is on hold for now, and certainly will be released for mid-summer 2004.
I'm also redesigning an oldie : i don't know if any of you is old enough to have had tonns of fun on Barbarian (aka Death Sword for the states ), a really addictive sword fighting game.

It is not a Flash game, (the engine has been devlopped in ASM by a coder team) but i'm maybe planning to use Marmotte's engine to bring it back to flash - as soon as i figure out how to implement AI - this project is also on hold for now
The third project is really exciting, is not on hold, and will take all my time, but it is a bit too early to start talking about it :)
Small world Lux, I was looking at that just the other week ( Cause I wanted to do an ik+ / way of the exploding fist beat 'em up one day, but ant512's version is going to be better than anything I could do, so I thought of that as an alternative )
That game would be ideal in Flash ( "Death sword" ??? eeeeewwwww ). btw, forget GTA kids, that game caused a major fuss at the time!
DominumBelli, Tom pretty much covered the answer. Running full screen at a low resolution gives you about the same processing power to play with as running the game from the Flash IDE ( Under a browser you lose at least 10% of your speed ). Basically it means I can use 24bit pngs with alpha, plus a lot of other alpha effects, and get away with it :)
You still can't scroll a really large amount of data without screen ripping and slow-down, but for putting a load of sprites on screen it's just pure sex.

i need to play the original "barbarian" game (i'm sure i did already, but...), maybe i can give you another file (since i'm working on another fighting game, a lot simpler than super crossover but as complete as the original SF2 for example. though i implement in the code additional things that can be expanded and used later for a most complete game)

Ant's porting IK+ ( Have a search for it on the board, it's the best 100% port I've ever seen, just fantastic ), that's why Barbarian is a nice alternative :)

Looking back on this thread, there are a lot of great games coming out. I look forward to playing them all!
When it comes to public games, Electrotank has been on a hiatus for quite some time. That's about to change :)
Within a week, we will be launching the newest version of our site (about time too). With this new version of the site, we are also releasing a single player solitare, a multi-player battleship, and a multi-player chess game using the international ranking system. These are all fun, but pretty traditional Flash games.
Our next game beyond these will be given away at Jobe Makar's Flash Forward presentation in San Francisco (March 3-5). Yup, you read that right, source code and all will be made available. The game is a real-time, multi-player, top-down tank game. It will support at least 4 players on a map and possibly up to 6 or more based on how our tests pan out. It will have support for various attack and defense powerups as well as multiple maps that can be created via the provided map editor. The game uses an ActionScript plugin for our chat server that keeps all players in sync, handles damage, movement, etc. This plugin will be provided open source as well. If you can't make the presentation, we will provide a download for the files (including the slides) after the conference.
If you have played some of the tank games in Fusion Frenzy on the X-Box, you have some idea of how this game will play. It can become a real click-fest with everyone firing a couple of times a second at each other :) I will post some screenshots in a week or so if people are interested.
Our next game after tank is something really special so the guys will kill me if I give too much away. Let's just say some buzz words and leave it at that: real-time, many person multi-player, action-oriented, and isometric. If you come to Jobe's session, you can even see a sneak peak of it ;)

Sometimes i dont feel like working like everyone else. I have my own ideas, and put them to originallity.
Im working on 'Myster-Vision'(temporary name). We currently have plain 2d, and iso to work with with tiles. Well i figured id change it up abit.
Almost exactly the same as Iso, but slightly more flat. An Iso tile is 2 accross and 1 down. I have 4 accross and 1 down.
Basically exactly the same thing as Iso, but gives it a tiny bit different effect.

Its more of a time passer then an actual project:P

I have seen some really goodlooking exampels of upcoming flashgames here on this forum. Shall be really nice to test them in realtime later.

I am continuesly developing the game futher. A newer and better game code will be at flashkit.com in a month or two. This release will include 2 or 3 weapons and moving enemys with some sort of basic AI. Ammo, ammoclips and a health system will be complete. The game will have some sort of temporary goal or point system, but will still only be played in one room (location).
For the future the thought is the game will evolve into a wider structure, including sevrel rooms with diffrent graphics and design. There will be a conected storyline throughout the game where you and your squad, (also playable), have a major goal with minor subgoals.
Since I only develop the game on my sparetime and my knowledge for this kind of flash design is not to great, it will take time.
