Gazza's goal against the sweaties was possibly the greatest goal of all time :)
Read more here.
Perhaps Owen's goal in the 98 world cup against the Argies?
Probably though Arsenal going unbeaten this season.
April 1991 Tottenham Hotspur v Arse*al Scummers FC FA CUP SEMI FINAL
after just 5 mins Spurs get a freekick some 35 yards from the arsenal goal.
Gazza lines up to take the freekick...
"is Gascoigne going to have a crack from here? he is you know...OOOHHHH I SAY!!!!! THATS SCHOOLBOYS OWN STUFF"
at this point a young Spockbert went hysterical and launched the remote control on the family tv and it shattered into a thousand pieces on the ceiling [:D]

oh and watching us beat Chelsea 5-1 from an executive box was pretty sweet too :)
Gazza was a jolly good player, which people tend to forget due to his daft haircuts, silly voice, tendancy to beef a lot and ridiculous foray into the hit parade
- Valentino Rossis back-to-back win on two different manufacturers
- Alex Zanardi's corkscrew overtake maneuver in Laguna Seca
- Lance Armstrongs first Tour de France win after nearly dying from cancer
- Alinghi winning the Americas Cup as the first country that has no direct connection to the sea

not really into competitive sports, but...
(long story sorry)
I teach fishing as a UK qualified angling coach, this one time i will never forget i was teaching 20 min sessions to kids between 5-17 years old.
well about 5 hours into the coaching sessions i get this little 5-6 year old girl, I told her we had been catching well and hopefully we can get her to catch something, told her about the equipment and a little heath & safety, then got about placing the hook and line in the pre-baited spot where i been catching all day.
This girl suddenly said within the 5 seconds of putting the float in the water, i want my float there, pointing to a patch of water some 10 metres away from where the baited spot was, I explained that i had been putting bait in this spot where here float is now and that is where the fish have been caught all day, but noooo she wanted to fish THIS spot, so i come to an agreement with her, fish here fo 5 mins and there for 5 mins.
well 5 mins went by and not a single fish, not that unusual but this girl kept pestering to fish this other spot so i said ok, i helped her lift the pole and float out of the water, and set it in the spot she wanted...
then BAM...............
no sooner had the float settled it shot under and bent the pole into an almost 90 degree angle, if i hadn't of been helping here settle the float i would of lost the pole.
some 25 minutes later and the hugest crowd thinkable gathering behind us (we were at a major angling event some 10,000 visitors) she landed the fish with very little help from me only verbal coaching mostly.
12lb 6oz on a pole first ever fish, the damn thing seemed nearly twice the size of her :D
it puts a warm smile on my face everytime i think of that girl fighting and landing that fish.
and i learnt a valued lesson too, never argue with the wisdom of a 5 year old :p
There are several but there is one I could never forget is the 4-3 score game between Liverpool and Newcastle (during Keegan regime)
Sport?
Hawks 900 :p
dude, that's a good one!Quote:

This had to be at least 7 years ago. Don't remember if it was the '94 cup finals or not. But the Rangers were in the Playoffs. Esa Tikkanen rips, I mean RIPS a shot from the point. Hits the net so hard it bounces right back out. He's standing up at the blue line celebrating, everyone is still playing, the refs didn't even blow the whistle it was so fast. Play stops, he yells at the refs, they go upstairs, sure enough it was a goal.
Another was a couple years ago, Penguins game. They're down a goal near the end of the 3rd. Mario Lemieux, owner/player orders the coach (I think this was before Eddie Olczyk) to call a time out and put him in. Coach is pissed, but Mario's the owner. Mario steps on the ice and scores. Fantastic.
Hehehe... sooo many!Quote:

I'd have to say the Drew Brees last minute touchdown bomb against OSU in '2000. Turned out to be the deciding play to send Purdue (where I went to college btw) to the Rose Bowl. The craziest few minutes of any sporting event I was able to witness in person.
lousy b^&*($%, i knew that 7-1 would show up ;)Quote:

"hoowaay man, gaaan ooot on the tap"
Derek Fisher game winner at .04 to put LA in the finals? Naw, cant be that one because they didn't win it all.
New Orleans lateral touchdown? Probably the freakiest play ever.
I have to say Hawks 900 had the biggest impact on me. You just don't realize what a total mind body accomplishment it is, that's Lance Armstrong-ish (Lance is my personal hero btw).
You gotta admit, Metzgers backflip kicker was pretty awesome.

Mann, you guys have forgot the best two of all time..
OSU winning the Fiesta vs. Miami in that triple overtime(I think?) I am from ohio, so of course I loved that :)
Also,
Remember that Jordan guy? '96 playoff's, the shot that won it all and was supposedly his last shot..oh well, he came back, but I won't ever remember the days that he was a wizard :)

1988 World Series, Game 1
Dodgers v. Athletics
Underdogs: Dodgers
Situation: Bottom of the 9th Inning, 2 outs. Dodgers down 4-3.
Kirk Gibson limps up to bat, hits a homerun to win the game.
Best. Baseball Moment. Evar.
this thread is about your favorite 'sporting' event, not favorite 'farming' event! ;) :DQuote:

Tiger woods victory 2000 US Open @ Pebble Beach by 18 strokes. Or his '97 Masters win.

That was a nice try. But how about the Blues try after that? I thought that was even better!Quote:

Mine is probably Australia vs West Indies at the SCG, 1 ball left in the GAME. Windies are up by 3, Micheal Bevan has to hit a 4 to win...and oh yes, he did it. That was freakin awesome.
says your in Arizona but you seem to be down with Aussie sport, did you migrate? :cow:
For me, it would have to be the 89 Tour. I happend to be living in France at the time, and we watched the Tour live every day. I was never a big Lemond fan, but watching the clock tick down as Fignon was on the road. When time ran out and Lemond was the winner, that was amazing.
For the final six weeks i was in France, every time my trainer saw me all he would say was "eight seconds" and shake his head.
d,
February 2002. Patriots are 12 point underdogs to Rams in Superbowl XXXV. Rams tie the game late in 4th quarter, only to watch Tom Brady march down the field after Madden says they should kneel the ball, then witness Adam Vinatieri's 44 yard field goal as time expires. Best moment of my life.
Adam Vinatieri is also responsible for my most painful moment when he nailed that 40 yarder in the snow bowl against the raiders to go to that superbowl.
