Saw it Monday night.
Not fantastic, but it entertained me for 2 hours, which cannot be said about all movies. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars.
Adam
Seeing it tonight the way any action should be seen: from a balcony in an old converted Opera house with a wrap-around screen...
:)
Not seen it yet, cos it's not out untill tommorow...
I will go see it tho :)
Movie rocked. Best move i've seen all year.
Glad Raimi didn't focus so much on the action and ACTUALLY worked on story.
on its first day spidy made 40 mil..the opening 12:00 am shows made them 5 mil.
I saw it with a friend, and her and I thought it was awesome!
definately a theater worthy movie, and a dvd buy.
Spiderman 2 was a big steaming pile of.
There were 2 good action scenes; the rest of the movie was (awful and mostly cheesy) dialogue. Every major character bawled their eyes out at least once. Some of the CG scenes were atrocious and lazy.
I know that suspension of disbelief adds to the enjoyment of a movie, but the logistics of Dr. Octopus' arms (and his mini sun thing) was a joke. I mean he invents this metal that is "invulnerable to heat and magnetism", and that's not a good enough scientific breakthrough? He just uses the metal for his extra arms (which seemed very similar to a Sentinel’s arms by the way.)
After the movie was over I wanted my money back.
Doc Ock precedes the sentinels of the Matrix by like 40 years mang. Adamantium (that's if they followed the comics 100% - I have yet to see this), also another Marvel creation from way back... it's the stuff that laces not only Wolverine's bones, but Doc Ock had some made of this metal a bit later on... like 15 years ago.
the human emotion part... I'll take that as a warning.
I thought that it was good. A bit much with the 'inpirational' speeches. Aunt May wouldn't stop driving the point in.

Yeah, I know he had his arms before The Matrix was ever thought of, but the way that they behaved in the movie, how they would snap open to curiously observe things, all I could think about was how similar they were to sentinels.Quote:

Hey, at least they didn't try to make him fly around with them swaying behind him :)
I saw it yesterday. The action was good, some laughs, but other than that it wasn't as good as the first one (however, I didn't really like the first one either). It also blew 2 hours for my mates & I.
Spider-Man really made me angry. I think ideas such as this should be left on the page of the comic, not on the big screen played out by lame actors.
The second one looks ok so far, but i still think the graphics of the hero himself are pretty unrealistic.
Shrek2 was a very good movie, filled with laughs.
Predictable as all hell, you could see the CG from a mile away, and the diolog kinda sucked (sunt may's speech about hero's nearly made me throw up) but overall it was a pretty fun movie.
2nd best bi of the movie was a lad that rocked up to our local premiere in a full spider-man outfit....
Best bit was that he looked mid-30's. :)
Only one? We had 3 fat, old guys. One dressed up as spiderman, one was Doc Ock and I forget who the 3rd was. They all had poorly drawn cardboard masks. The Doctor had a belt with his extra cardboard arms attached and Spidey had a spiderman T-Shirt and was greeted with a yell from the audience "Spiderman doesn't have tits!"Quote:

Just saw it. From what my buddy tells me there are a lot more tie-ins directly with the comic and it sets up great for sequals. I liked it. Solid though cheezy at points.
What a cool film that was!:D
I was really impressed with Doc Ock and some of the fight scenes between him and Spidey.
Infact, it's the only film I've ever gone to the cinema to watch twice, but thats only really cos I've got a Unlimited card now :D
But what did you guys think of it? Did Doc Ock make it so much cooler or did you prefer the Goblin?:)
screw them both I WANT VENOM.
still....spiderman2 was very good, the fight scenes were great.
Screw Venom, I want Carnage.
But word has it, another studio owns the rights to him (venom) and the director just doesn't like him, so theres a good chance he'll never show up in any of the spiderman movies, but more likely, his own spin-off movie based on the venom comics. Which sounds like a good idea, but think of cat woman. :(
I think that both the Spiderman movies were sappy.
Did anyone else notice the parallel to Jesus in the train scene? When they're fighting on the train, and spiderman stops it by standing in front and shooting out webs, well. He's in the shape of a crucifix. Then they pass him through the crowd... Maybe it's just me.
Ooh thanks to whichever mod welded these threads together, I forgot about the first one :)
Virgo, the sappy bits add to it. I'm bored with superheros that just go on an endless spree of victories, I think spidey is far cooler because he has to fight with his own emotional problems as well as the big evil dudes :)
Yes, but it didn't have to be done in a sappy way. It followed the same formula as every other "hero" movie.
But I guess that's what keeps it true to the comics.
who ever says that spiderman 2 or 1 sucked, they suck, Its a movie and who says what guidlines to follow, thats why there are differant movies out there. I thought the Spider2 was the most amazing movie I have ever seen, the CG is so amazing and they did such a great job. The action scenes are incredibile and no other movie so far comes close to that of spiderman 2.
I have seen it 2X's and I love it, I agree there were one or 2 kinda cheesy parts in it, but that doesn't make the entire movie BUNK.
So I heared MJ is not going to be in the 3ard one, but the ending makes it sound like she may be, maybe like "a stay at home mom?" lol, kinda cool that the Green Goblin will be back , can't wait till the 3rd one.
So are we sure that the green goblin will be back? I know that they were hinting at it, but I don't know if that was just kidding around? I assume he'll be back :)
I've never really been a fan of comics, to tell the truth. But I must admit, I did find myself becoming caught up in some of the fight scenes, despite myself :).
I read somewhere that the Green Goblin will be back for the 4th movie and it would be venom in the 3rd. The there's that electric guy, damn I forget his name, for the 5th and the synister 6 for the 6th.
Though I think this is just what they suggested, I don't think any of it is definate.
you think there is going to be a series?? 4,5,6 Don't know about that one, but I know for a fact , on opra, they did say that Kirstin Dunst signed a contract for part 1 and 2 , and didn't for 3,
I want to see Mysteri0
and yes I think Peter's buddy, Oscorp guy will be green goblin in the next one
I was pleasantly surprised, the cg was as bad as the first one but doc oc was brilliantly played (green goblin was awful in the first)and I thought pete's angsty bits balanced well with the action scenes.
J. Jonah Jameson was great comic relief
the movie was awesome except for the last 5 minutes, felt kinda cheesy, but I was mainly upset about the idea of bringing in green goblin 2. I loved this one for Doc Ock cuz he was done so well and was sooo much cooler than green goblin.
I was never a big fan of any of the multiple goblin villains, and to have to go through another movie of him... It also is a possibility they'll bring in Lizard, because I think Dr. Curtis Connors was mentioned. I'd prefer him as the main villain to the second goblin
And there's little chance we'll actually be getting venom, because there was no mention of Eddie Brock in this movie, whereas they did the whole big thing for goblin 2. And with venom, you'd have to have him as the one and only villain to deal with, so perhaps spiderman 4 if it ever comes out.:(
And if you don't know much about the spidey universe but would like to know who these characters are...
Green Goblin 2 - sadly, the villain who looks to be guaranteed in the next movie.
Lizard - rumours going around that he might be in as well since he was mentioned in spidey 2. Would definitely counteract the lameness of green goblin 2
Venom - the villain most of us want to see in the next movie, but very likely won't unless they decide to switch stuff around as previously mentioned. Though I don't find that likely:(
Spiderman has many enemies, especially with the green goblin always coming back, so as long as it stays popular there's no doubt that there will be a series of them, like the batman films.
Venom is a very powerful enemy, so it'll probly take a while before they introduce him if they do, which hopefully they will :)
I'd quite like to see Doc Ock back cos he's always been my fsv baddie. But he's dead...or so it would seem :D
yeah, I thought the same thing and it made me cringe. I guess I'm just too old for blockbusters these days!Quote:

(my review from my site:
I'm starting to think I'm too old for blockbusters and blockbuster sequels.
Spiderman 2 is everything you'd expect following Spiderman. It's got the high flying montages, flying through city blocks, the whole lot. It's nothing that couldn't have actually just been cut straight from the first film.
The villain on this occasion "Doc Ock" has some wacky metal arms grafted onto him, they've got a life of their own after his inhibitor chip fuses and he's badass etc.
Sadly this film for me doesn't live up to the first one. The Green Goblin provided a much more psychotic foe than Doc Ock, there was significantly more action in the first one and the "final fight" was more impressive than Doc Ock's noble suicide to destroy the machine he created to provide an endless source of energy but which naturally enough becomes unstable and threatens to destroy the city.
The actors do exactly what's expected and of course I do love the Dunst in it but I think overall it's probably because I've been waiting so long to see this film after thoroughly enjoying the first one, then being let down by a string of blockbusters this year that I found Siderman 2 to be a bit of a let down.
It was exactly what you'd expect but I didn't really think the baddie was actually that bad. Still, what else was I going to do on a sunday afternoon? Watch War Games which incidentally is on TV right now!
7/10)
Spiderman 2 was so much better than 1! Ock was better than gobby old goblin :)
Spiderman 2 was so much better than 1! Ock was better thant the old ugly goblin face

I made that post about two years ago.
This thread can be over now.
Seriously... resurrecting old threads like his has to stop. Read the dates, Spidey Fanboy.
