Here I am... rock you like a hurricane...
:mulletrock:
do you actually spell it charley? ... I thought everyone by now has reverted to the modernized charlie.
i spell it charlie..everyone else is just stupid..
I don't get how you can be called 'hurricane' if your name is neither hurricane or you have never attended Miami University.
Getting caught up in one only entitles you to one name.
Bugsplat.
don't make me slap u i'm havin fun
heh look at that. I just got back from the Cayman Islands yesterday. Looks like Charley would have nailed me right on the head.
I was under the impression you slapped people for fun.Quote:

VR ya left just in time
first of all, neither of these kids are hurricanes...
second of all.....er, um...well that's all i got...
Some people would have preferred that the hurricane be named Clyde instead.
Wait a minute.. Is that one of the new politically correct hurricaines?? I knew women were steamed that only feminine names were being used for storms.. Wow!
(although the system has probably been in place for years, I'm slow and never noticed before )
Every other one is a boy. They switch it up.Quote:

they also reuse the list every 6 or 7 years.
i remember hurricane bonnie from my first year down here in SC (1997).
of course, if you're a total badass, they retire your name (hugo, floyd, andrew, etc).
well this afternoon i am off to home depot.. looks like bonnie is taking a more western track due to the jetstream..won't see much of it..but charlie is only 5 miles away from cat 1 hurricane..

how close to the water are you, how much of a storm surge are the expecting?
as a fellow coast dweller, i feel for you.
hopefully the storm surge and tornados will stay away.
good luck, and hold on!!!

what is your house made of, and what's it sittin' on?
we live on a marsh, and our house is about 7-feet off the ground on concrete pilings.
that means we leave when the order comes - i don't trust this treehouse.
don't forget to use the phrase 'honker down' a lot like the guys on TWC.
and post pics here!
That is soooo cool!:DQuote:

Good luck vamps, I have no idea what it's like to be anywhere near a hurricane (thankfully) but I gather it's not the most pleasant of events. Hope you back yard don't suffer too much damage :)

that water is sea level, and my backyard is at about 4 inches.
we are about 4 miles from the beach as well.
Hold on tight, vamps.
Good luck, buddy.
:)
Woah! Nords thats awesome!
I would show you the view from my back porch, except you wouldn't be able to see much through the rain :(
ha! well, it's been raining here since thursday thanks to Bonnie, and Charley is on the way.
they should have made the 'C' storm Clyde...that would have been way cooler.
I will sit in front of your webcam, with some beer ... "Go Charley, go!" :pQuote:

Fredi
I think he should make a last transmission.
Oh yeah vamps ... send all website account informations of your sites my way before the hurricane hits ... just in case. ;)
Fredi
I would doubt the phone lines, cable and power will be up still. Ours go out when its only 15mph winds.
vamps is going to get slammed - this is a serious storm.
I've been thinking the same thing since they started talking about this; how could you not go to Clyde from Bonnie? That's like saying "Thelma and Leslie".Quote:

Meterology is a serious business, not an opportunity to play funny games with the naming convention of major storms.Quote:

Pfft, what am I saying - of course it should have been Clyde, anybody can see that.
:p
Just goes to show that it's far from a horizonatal career move, meterologist to comedian.
WASSSSSSUUUPPPP
oh getting windy.. couldn't get the stupid webcam to work streaming from my server..figures i can't even install linux..
I'm north of you, we're outside of ceder key which is now under mandatory evac also, so we'll probably get hit just as hard as you, maybe a little bit less though. BRING IT ON!!
Good luck guys
just upgraded to a category 4 - 145MPH+ winds.
damn, ya'll better honker down!
Honker down? you need to get on the tallest part of your house and go Lt Dan on charlie's ass.
Hey Vamps where abouts in tampa are you? Be safe.
