What is the best Child Guard againts porn website and stuff ?
What is the best Child Guard againts porn website and stuff ?
no internet connection.
is it possible to completely block porn?
at a youth center i volunteer at, the netnanny software works well.
i use netnanny on my kids computer and it works well...
GET A GUN AND SHOOT 'EM!LOL!:p
I recommend editing your post, as the advocating of shooting one's child to solve a problem, well, chances are it will offend someone.
On the subject of net nanny, I found it blocked some legitamate sites also, but I'm sure this will be a problem with any program of that type.
all opf the net nannys, all that crap don't work well enuff.. spammers and soem guys find wsys around it
probably the best way is to closely monitor every movement your child makes on the internet.Quote:

you can't let it babysit them...
when my son is old enough to go online, i'm going to make damn sure that i'm always around to monitor what he's doing.
The internet is not a babysitter.
If you want to make sure kids do not view unsuitable material, they should not be permitted to surf unsupervised.
try a program called "ChildLock"
keep the computer in a high traffic area, like in the main living room or around the kitchen.
those who say that you should supervise your kids as they surf the net, i agree, and i would say 95% of the time my kid who uses the internet does only when someones there to watch them (my girls only 5 and rarely visits anywhere other than bbc's cbeebies site), but that other 5% when i go grab a coffee or answer the phone then you can't supervise the content, so thats where net nanny gives added supervision...
I think your best bet would be net nanny. I've found ways around it at my school, as it blocked sites that should have been allowed, but I doubt your daughter will know how to search for ways to beat netnanny, or even want to try.
i would install keylogger. let them learnt that we know whatever they are doing.
that's until they old enough to figure out the logger. but if they do i believe itz time to give them freedom to choose. and hopefully they chose the correct path. like me :D
btw, do u really need those stuff for a 5 year old innocent mind?!
Accidents can happen, and so can typos. They are more safe guards, if anything.
for five year olds porn discoveries are accidents.
for fifteen year olds ... Not accidents
where there's a horny teenager ... there's a website access to be found or they'll ge pic's emailed to them.
Try education ... let them know about the thrilling existance of a drugged out disease ridden hooker.
better yet a little respect for others will go a long way.
log their online activities but give them a chance to hang themselves... then embarass them with the evidence... if it's mild ask them about the artistic merits of such stuff... if its hard core BS make them write (longhand) an essay about respecting others.
uhhhhh. If my parents caught me looking at porn when I was 15 and made me write an essay I would just laugh at them. Punishment is the best, just act like your always checking up on them. That way they will have to go to a mates house or steal a magazine or something.
remove the brats electronics (computers, music, cel phones, tv's)until the 300 page essay written longhand was accepted by such parents -- usually after 10 or 15 rewrites.
Read the law - children actually have no rights to entertainment.
Also dear children do realise this... you don't have any right to own the money in your bank acount... under the law it belongs to your parents along with everything else you own including the clothes on your back.
Orkar, are by any chance old bitter and twisted?
not young .. not old ... 30 something
bitter ... not really ... just po'd at the BS that fills half the net
twisted ... regularly by my chiropractor

Screw longhand, you need to get him to spend days learning shorthand, while whipping him with a leather belt playing hardcore thrash metal in the background.
I sure as hell hope this isn't true in Australia, I have a few 17 year old friends and a few younger friends as well who live by themselves, have their own bank accounts and jobs. I would hate for there parents too be able to take their money out of there account without permission legally!Quote:

Doesn't sound right.
unless their legally emancipated from their parents it could happen. It's a basic structure of english common law. The determining factor is the age of majority (adulthood) set in your jurisdiction. This is one of the reasons why your parents could take away your car or drivers license. Basically the law says until you become an adult you are a form of property ... or kinda like livestock.
Cruelty is not allowed but don't think you have real rights to property. Your bank account is available for your parents/legal guardians to take if they want to.
It's a wierd legal position to be in.. you can be sent off to die in a war, but you can't drink a beer. Your permitted to drive to get to work for minimum wage... if your parents sign off to let you get your license. You have the rights of a child but the responsibilities of an adult.
Fortunately most of the truly fuc*ed up parents who would rip their kids off are too stupid to realize they legally have the right to do it.
That doesnt make sense, my Parents can't take my license off me?!
If they can and your right, wanna maybe keep it on the low? ;)
don't let them come here... don't let them know about it
but if they signed the paper to let you get it in the first place... get the picture???
what was given can be taken away
Man I was checking out porn when I was just a nipper! I think I must've been around 10 when I saw my first 'Jaz Mag'. All this policing the internet just seems over the top to me.....kids are always gonna get to see it!
It's all very simple......
Can't win.....don't try!
I think the conversation lost sight of the situation.
I believe the poster mentioned that his child was 5, right? Therefore it would be completly accident.
It worked out pretty good for my parents, when I was growing up. Family got our first computer when I was 6. A 386 powerhouse. It wasn't until I was 11 that the internet came around, and it was still hard to come across porn.
Aobo Internet Filter can block any websites and application to protect your kids on the computers. http://www.remotespy.co/internet-filter.html
This is a more than 10 year old thread! Wondering how this thread is appearing now!
well because 10 years after children still keep running into porn on the internet
Don't have kids lol :D
Yeah well what if it is too late
If it's too late to have kids then I guess you won't need the blocker.
If you do have kids part of the deal is that you are responsible for passing on your value system to them. The best way to do that is to maintain an open line of communications with them. Telling them what you expect of them and why it's important. Right up there with look both ways before crossing the street and wash your hands and brush your teeth.
it's too late to NOT have kids, I mean:
Not sure if I want to make me a copy of myself.Quote:

When I was a boy I saw a semi hit a motorcyclist who decided to jump the light. Right before my eyes. It was tragic and horrible. Simply seeing it happen didn't make me want to grow up to be a truck driver so I could run over people.
I'm not your son. I'm 54. I am my father's son and yet I am my own man. I live my life on my terms while valuing the wisdom he imparted on me. My father didn't believe that locking me up in a closet and shunning me from the world I would live in was the best way to prepare me for adulthood.
Why is a discussion about this happening in an 11+ year old thread?
These necro threads serve nothing more than places for spam.
Hmm, did not get notification from Frets reply. There seems to be a lot of people arguing that things you see (or read, for that matter) in works of art etc, do not affect your personal choices. I think it's bullsht. I agree that people (even young ones) can tell the difference between fiction and real life, be this fiction Bill's bride cutting gangster heads, or some porn actress giving head to ten men at the same time. However, I do believe seing that gives you lots of ideas of what to do in your real life. You see some cloth the character wears, and you go "omg I should totally get one". Or - case 2 - "no way, I will never wear that" - but if you fall into this 2nd case, it does not mean everyone else does. So goes for hitting people with the car. Maybe most people, as Frets, will not want to replicate that. Does not mean none of them will. Maybe seeing the guts with blood fountaining out will make them lose their speech. Or maybe send them in months wasted on gore sites. Or maybe they will start to cut dogs bellies for fun. You never know, what the sight can trigger.
