Time to buy a new communication device!

My phone got stolen, long story. But it's about damn time I buy a new phone! Now...I dont have much money to spend, but walking into work with a cheap phone isnt going to make me look very good :p Neither is taking in one of my older phones.

Ideally, WiFi would have been the most important feature, but none of those are at a modest price. So I'm thinking of settling for something less expensive, but still packed with features. In comes Nokia 6234.

Specs here, seriously, check em out, they're crazy. Stereo speakers, QVGA screen, 2MP camera, VGA video recording, and some really nifty Symbian S40 apps. Sorry Gerbs, no go with the A1200, too expensive :(

What is it with phones that have speakers?? You can’t get on a bus these days without some wot wot sat at the back blaring out some cr@ppy music!

it has brilliant features- i can talk to people, i can text people and i can even use it as an alarm clock. oh and it has tetris. really, what more could you want?

Hehe - Exactly!

I got one of those LG Chocolate phones a month or two ago - it was shocking! The alarm didn't have a snooze button, just went off once and that was it AND the battery lasted less than 3 days!

odd i have a chocolate phone, and the alarm will go off. if i dont touch it, 2 minute later it goes off again, if i dont touch it 2 minutes later it goes off again. if i hit snooze i get an extra 3 minutes in between 2 minute catnaps.

i can also set 4 differnt alarms in case i sleep through one, 3 using ring tones the 4th using an mp3 of my choice as the last line of defense.

the battery issue its true its not very long.. good thing i live in a world where i can plug things in to charge them;)

Yeah I did the set 4 separate alarms thing for a few days but it got annoying. The phone I had before (and have gone back to) will let me hit snooze for an hour and holds a charge of 7 days... which is nice :)

Also, with that chocolate - I worried that if I were to drop it, it would turn into a million shiny pieces of sharp worthless plastic!

It ought to be pretty cheap (if not free with some plans now) and its a pretty good phone. Great reception/quality, the speakerphone is better than most, it has a microSD slot for media. 1.3 MP camera which is really quite awful but I guess useful for getting the shots of drunk naked girls at parties.

It's an MP3 player but unless you're MacGuyver you gotta buy the Moto Headphones that go in the data port. Unlilmited alarms and ring configurations for alarms. It's bluetooth ready for tethering to your laptop or using handsfree stuff and it looks kinda nice.

MMS, Photos, pop3 email, web browsing, games (decent games), mp3 player, ringtones, custom wallpapers... and on some phones wifi (free voip calls/web browsing), scheduler, multiple alarms, diary, notes... and I can charge mine via usb ports :D

If I hit snooze it alarms after 9 minutes - but I can hit snooze 6 times in a row before it gives up on me!

What things? BlackBerries? They're incredibly popular in the political world - just about every decently sized campaign or elected official's office uses them.

Why? So they are easier to get hacked?

Most Fortune 1,500 companies equip their Management and Representatives with Blackberries. It's almost standard issue these days.

being able to get your email and work on spreadsheets on the run, without having to bust out the laptop makes a freelancer's life easier in such a highpaced world.

Yep, I'm GSM. You're not recommending those to me are you? Cos, um, all of those cost a leg and an arm to buy. I dont have that kinda money. The one im getting now...on staff discount I'll be able to grab it for $215US (114GBP).
