nvm, I was sitting faar away and thought the red was the US flag. I think the red is too bright though, should be greyer.
Agreed though it does look pretty sweet. What actually is GI joe?
woah woah woah....did you seriously just ask what GI Joe is?
it's one of THE best 80's cartoons EVER. I watched GI Joe more than Transformers and HE-MAN combined. That's how good it was
He's a kid, more than likely born in the early 90's. Clueless of all that comes before him, apparently.
Anyway, looks cool... CG, right? Any other links though? First I heard of a movie...
CG? nah man this is LIVE action.
GI joe is actually quite the propaganda cartoon
Would rather have CG. Who's gonna play Roadblock? Ving Rhames?
So are the Smurfs, if you listen to the right people.Quote:

Byung-hun Lee ... Storm Shadow
that little pansy is playing cobra commander? That's bull crap.
sgt. slaughter's not in the cast list? bull crap.
roadblock could easily be played by Samuel L.
bazooka should be played by Josh Brolin
Oh god that's a hideous list. Baroness should have been Monica Belucci, no Roadblock (!?), Destro is a former Dr. Who (!?), Marlon Wayans (wtf), Cobra Commander is more wussified than ever - Third Rock from the Sun *****. Zartan, Hawk and Duke... I can see those being ok... Zartan being probably the closest match.
But dude... Destro was baritone smooth. Baroness was like the first piece of plastic that men our age lusted after. Hell, I would have taken Topher Grace as the damn Cobra Commander.
This list sucks... change it. This, I command! - Serpentor
meh she goes nude in almost all her movies. maybe make gi-joe rated r, add a crapton of violence.
im actually excited about ironman though.
Friggin' perfect :DQuote:

No, it was a merchandising effort. And a successful one at that.Quote:

Snake Eyes does not need a gun, a vest full of crap, and what I'm guaranteeing is going to be slow motion action where he wipes out like a dozen Cobra cannon-fodder henchman who go down by jumping backwards flailing their arms and legs.
Oh, and...
PORK CHOP SANDWICHES!
Lol. The first time I heard about GI Joe was when I did this claymation with a bunch of guys in 2004.
Agreed.Quote:

But, it was my favorite cartoon. In fact, I was just looking around the other night to buy the DVD's for my son. Turns out that Sony bought the rights to them and hasn't re-released them yet. Sounds like it has something to do with this movie and they should be re-branded and in Best Buy soon enough.
"What is GI Joe?"
The cartoon or the term?
you know, i thought after reading his post, he actually meant the term G.I. Joe:
Government Issue Joe
Wow, I'm surprised at how much interest this thread has garnered.
Yay for a successful thread. Also, agreed about the cast lineup. However, if this picture is anything to go by, then the rest of the movie will be quite the eye candy.
bloody GI Joe... its going to be as bad as the Street Fighter movie, and it cant get Raul Julia to be in it to make things at least half decent... So its going to be a terrible thing.... Also wasn't it originally called ActionMan? Or is that going too far back?? :old:
...the wifey and I were just watching the "Arise Serpentor, Arise" mini-series on DVD the other day; it's true what they say, you can't go home again. I'm convinced they have them yelling "Yo, Joe!" and "Co-braaaaa!" over and over again so that they can just use the same recording of the voice-actors to fill in the dead audio.
I could have sworn GI stood for Ground Infantry.
psst...
it's "GO JOE!"
actually it is Galvanized Iron Joe.Quote:

Just gonna put it out there, our college prof. fails the paper if we quote wikipedia as a source.
Sorry - thought this thread was about GI Joe. Guess I was wrong...or not.Quote:

Incidentally, I can promise you that there was nothing galvanized or metal about those plastic blue panties that GI Joe wore in the 70's, while sporting his kung fu grip.
way too un-PC.Quote:

i just saw that they're making an A-Team movie with director John Singleton.
I'm all for nostalgia, but man, making all these 80's shows into movies is getting as bad and as saturated as reality TV.
They should just cut to the chase and re-make shows that came out this year. ;)
[I'm with you. Has the well of creativity really gone so dry that they have to constantly use the stories of yester-year? Just sounds like hollywood being run by the marketing and advertisement departments.]
It will go straight to DVD.Quote:

Is everyone going to be dressed in all black?
I hope so. Otherwise, Cobra Commander is going to look pretty fruity in powder blue.
Or, how about Zartan in his lavender pants? :)
has anyone brought up the fact that the rock is playing shipwreck? or was it the other water related guy
Seal?
Torpedo?
I could see him playing Gung-Ho maybe.
no brendan frasier is gung-ho, the rock indeed is shipwreck
