How to do blur animation in scripting ?

How to make an object or pic in a webpage slowly blur when mouse overed ?

You can use masks.

Masks ? Hmmmmm. You mean having 2 images (1 blurred and one not) and using a mask to reveal the one behind ? I dont know how that wud be possible. Though i know how to create and animate a mask. Also i dont think this would cause the slow blur that im talking about. Im talking about when u mouse over the pic gradually clears up or ramps into being blurred. Ive heard that theres a code property which can do this in AS.

Im basically wanting to know how i can animated properties such as brightness, color sat, blur etc of a movieclip or Symbol. I know brightness etc can be animated using timeline keyframing. But im keen to know what commands in AS address a symbols properties like this.

You basically need to add the blur filter property to a movie clip. Are you using AS2 or AS3 ?

May i ask if the same format can be used to apply brightness, inverse, color sat filters to a clip or symbol ? Any idea please ?

That went totally over my head. Im a newbie and seeing so much code which someone else concieved in logic sends my head spinning. LOL. Is there a simple way to understand this. Or if u can just tell me the actionscript command to control a clips saturation & brightness ?

Thanks for the link. But i couldnt make out anything there ? That wepage seems conglomerated with info. And it also mentions something called Tween Lite. I couldnt ever find a DOWNLOAD link. The page looks more like a discussion page rather than a plugin with a clear description and a download here link.

Your first suggestion for the blur filter where its done thru AS2 seemed better. Looks like this is a program as much a labyrinth as flash itself and im already just learning flash. Is there a simple coding way to do the saturation and brightness control ?

Well, there is a large button on the right that says "AS2 download". I can't believe you missed such a large button.

Hi, I did see that button but it said AS2 download. Holy cow i now understand. They meant download "FOR" AS2 or "FOR" AS3. OKKKK. I thought it was literally what it said "Download AS2" , why should i, i already have AS2 on my system. :). OK ! Excuse me for im a mere mortal for now and just learning flash. But still it seems to have a plethora of controls, is this easy to use for someone just stepping into actions.
