The 911 World Trade Center thread

I really hate to see the anti-imigrant sentiment that is being bandied about. The US is a country of pioneers and imigrants that have historically grouped together when the going gets tough. I don't want to see internment camps, I would like to see unity. As far as Nostradamos, are we looking at aliens? Get real folks. There were real human beings that hijacked these planes--someone had to see them. The hijackers are dead, but the powers behind them are still there--we need to locate the motivating source.

Colin Powell is in a postion where he can do the most good. Remember he was just a general not the grand gladiator. It will take more than one person to deal with this. It will take a unified front that steps up and says NO!

I'm just wondering about us...all of us. We're all humans, and I think we all really have to answer for this, don't we?

I mean, isn't this just HORRIBLE?

I think a situation like this should make us aware that life is definitely short, full of surprises, and completely out of our control. The last few years have been telling us something like this would happen. I mean, hey, something similar happened at Columbine, didn't it? It was on a much smaller scale, but the calculation and horror were a lot alike. Doesn't it point to who we are? Humanity...all of us?

Humanity is fallen...I truly believe that. This can't be all there is. There has to be some greater meaning in man. He can't just be here for a time, and then just not be.

I think Genesis in the Bible hits the whole thing right on the nose. We were meant to be more than this, but we failed. I don't know what else could explain it! I also think the claims of the Bible about Jesus Christ are worth considering, too. We had no way to be what God intended, and so Christ had to be the substitution for what we couldn't do as humans. I try to fix myself all the time, but I still end up being evil somehow. If we were created to be more than we are now, how do we get back to that? It's worth considering, especially if we can do things like this! Are we inherently this evil? And if we are, why?!!

Humanity can't be created to be this evil. We can't just be a cosmic accident that is and then is not. If that were the case, what standard would we have to condemn this whole thing, anyway? Am I making sense?

Who are we (and we're all guilty, aren't we?) if we can commit an act like this? I think the questions should be asked...now more than ever.
What does this say about us...all of us?

I personally see the comparison with Columbine. What happened there happened because there were those who were attacked and victimized and no one of authority or power stepped forward and said: you can't or shouldn't do that. This may have happened for the same reason, because someone or some country or segement of the world has been victimized, but for polictical or economic reasons, and no one has stepped up and said "You can't do that!".

I am shaken.
To all NYC FK members if you are able to read this I am thankful you are still here. And to all of the int'l members with family visiting/living in NYC I pray for their safety.

I am utterly gobsmacked at this. I have been watching it on the news this evening.

it is, but mankind does much worse things than this, most of us are lucky to live in relatively free countries where pain and suffering is not the norm, there are however a lot of people who are not so lucky.

no one should have to live their lives in pain, without ever knowing comfort or love, but many many people do.

i think we all do have to ask ourselves what sort of world we actually live in.

Puts one in the mind of Pearl Harbor. This is a wake up call to all of us Americans. We have been under a false sense of security for quite sometime-sheilded by the umbrella of being the world's strongest nation. The world is a cruel place and we are only getting a glimpse of exactly how. I wouldnt expect any kind of military response from our government any time soon if at all.

like most of us gathered around the television at work this morning, i felt a sense of utter disbelief at the violence i was seeing. terrorism in the United States has been relatively mild compared to the orchestrated murderous violence wrought today. so many people have died innocently, and citizens on the West Bank are celebrating our loss and handing out candy in the streets. i know i'm not supposed to hate my fellow man, but right now i do. i hope all of these terrorists burn in everlasting hell.

ironically, today's date is 9/11:

911, emergency. coincidence, or sick joke?

CNN just said that a passenger on the hijacked plane that crashed in near pittsburgh was locked in the toilet talking to 911 on his cell phone the whole time until it crashed.

Half the world expects America to solve their problmes. The other half hate us because we help the other half. When we try to help both sides, we are still scrutinized because of it. No matter what America does for who or what cause, other countries and groups are always getting pissed at us for some reason or another. I hear everyone talking about how America is supposed to be setting the example and leading the way into peace. Whoever said America was "big brother" or "Big sis" to the world? Why don't these other countries set their own examples instead of blaming everything on the US? Granted we do cause problems, but ***** like this is completely cowerdly and dishonorable. And I think that if it is another government or group, then we must ultimetly take massive millitary action. We must strike back both quickly and with the force of 1000 hammers. And I do believe this was the work of a government or a major compilation of groups. So I say we strike back and do it fast. And I would gladly serve my country, the United States of America, in whooping some foriegn a$$, whenever and wherever it's needed. Up yours Isama Bin Laden.

I know how angry you must be, Jared, and I am, too. I just imagine that the evil these people committed was simply another symptom of the overall problem: the state of man. We are so fallen from grace. We're so far from where we should be, and I believe where we should be is closer to God. I really think its worth considering what we can do about this state of man. Is there anything outside of a complete reconciliation with God that can save us from this?
That won't come from the government, either.

To Omega--what if this originated internally? We don't know what is going on. Do we bomb Denver if the individuals responsible lived in Denver?
