Seriously, thats not funny at all. War is the LAST thing we want. Yes, we are mad and would like revenge, but War isn't the answer. Let the officials take care of it.

So far a specific country isn't suspected anyway.
The chances of this turning to war aren't too good... but it could happen :(

Yep, Kabul is being bombed, my guess is this could get worse then anyone expected.

Hi everybody:

I had a few thoughts about this situation, and wanted to share them (I hope you don't mind):

Concerning the seeming inequity and injustice that thrived in the world in his day, and in the aftermath of a very violent and very bloody conflict we Americans call the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln penned these words:

"It may seem strange that any men should dare to ask a just God's assistance in wringing their bread from the sweat of other men's faces, but let us judge not, that we be not judged."

In just such a time, Abraham Lincoln turned to the words of Jesus Christ, because it is in these words that Lincoln found the equity and the justice of God that made sense of it all--when we judge others, we are condemning ourselves.

Continuing, Lincoln wrote:

"With malice towards none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations."

This was not just a presidential inaugural address, but a prayer. And it was not just a prayer for those in the North, but for all men everywhere. In short, it was a prayer for peace. And Lincoln prayed not only for the orphan and the widow of those in the North, but for those of the Confederacy as well. He, like Christ, prayed even for his enemies. And he prayed for them because he did not stand in judgement of them, but he forgave them, in the hope that they would no longer be enemies, and might once again live together in peace. And had God not answered that prayer, we would not be the "United States of America" this day.


I have no doubt that every one of us is deserving of the righteous retribution of a just and holy God. But in his great mercy, God chose to send his own son into the world to be punished in our place. Jesus Christ bore our sins in his body on the cross, when the Father poured out his wrath--his righteous punishment for sin--upon him.

But how do we repay him for so great a sacrifice? Are our hearts filled with gratitude for the mercy he has shown toward us, or with hard and unrepentant hearts, do we persist in judging others? Indeed, it may seem a perfectly just thing to do--to judge others when they sin against us--when they are in the wrong, and we are in the right.
But is there anyone among us who is without sin? Christ did not die for his own sins, but for the sins of the world. And yet, he did not judge us. Instead, he prayed for us, and willingly bore our just punishment himself. Even though he was without sin, he offered up himself to God as a sacrifice for our sin--yours and mine.

But has the mercy of God had any impact on our hearts? Has it wrought any change in us? Not just in what we say, or do--how we treat one another--but in the attitudes and intentions of our hearts. Or, have we hardened our hearts towards God and our fellow man.

These are questions I ask myself everyday. And when I search my heart, I am struck by my own insensibility toward the infirmities of others. Especially towards those who would be my enemies. And I see a tough, fibrous root running through my own soul that unceasingly seeks after its own self interests. Quick to condemn others, and always seeking to justify self, rather than God, by not forgiving men when they sin against me, just as God forgave me my sins in Christ, when I had sinned against him.

Returning to the words of Lincoln, who understood the both the mercy and justice of a holy God, concerning the issue of slavery, he said this:

"I have always thought that all men should be free; but if any should be slaves, it should be first those who desire it for themselves, and secondly those who desire it for others. Whenever I hear anyone arguing for slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally."

In this statement, Lincoln is not contradicting himself, but using hyperbole to make a statement. He neither desired slavery for himself or others, but he makes the point that if you do not desire to be a slave, then you should not desire to have any man as your slave.

This was Lincoln's, and my, understanding of both the mercy and justice of a holy God: if we do not desire to be judged, we should not judge others, because a just and holy God will measure our own rule back to us. Thus, the Bible says, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy."

In a situation like ours, there can be a tendancy to accuse...to judge...to hate. It is a terrible thing, no doubt. And there have been many innocent lives lost. But what will fill our hearts today? Will it be hatred and a lust for retribution, or will it be mercy and forgiveness. Even for our enemies. Is it peace and reconciliation we seek, or is it a thirst for vengeance and the blood of our enemies?

We are now faced with a very grave and difficult situation. And there are many tough decisions to be made by the president, and by our nation as a whole. But what is it that we seek? And what are the intentions of our hearts?

May the Lord forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us, and give us, and our leaders, the wisdom to know, and the power to do, what is right in this time of great distress. And may he help us, like Lincoln, to make sense of these nonsensical acts, by keeping everything in
perspective, remembering that the mercies of God are new each morning.

My heart goes out to all who have suffered loss. May the Lord comfort you all.

Well, apparently no one knows what the heck is goin on ...

I heard on one news broadcast : That both towers and buildings 6 and 7 had collapsed ... Also, building 5 was in jeapordy of fallen as well ...

Then, I heard that building 5 had fallen and building 6 was in danger of collapsing ...

300 dead ... then 266 dead ...

Now, there are explosions in Afghanistan ...

I guess we won't get the full scope of this tragedy for some time ... :(

just been watching video footage from Kabul where it is reported that up to 14 missiles rained down, big explosions, fireballs.
Damn, I hope they (whoever sent theses missiles) know what they are doing. It would be embarrassing if it was a dozen Tim McVeighs.

Suddenly I don't feel comfortable living close to the capital of the Europe Union and the siege of NATO.

My condoleances to the American people, my hart goes out to you. I am not for "an eye for an eye" but whoever is behind the entire thing, should be totaly eliminated from the face of the world, because there is no reason for such people to be part of society, at least not in a human one. Also, who ever is head of security should get his monkey arse fired. In no way someone can explain 4 hijacks within an hour.
We'll wait and see , but i have a feeling that this entire thing it's only started and there is no short end in the horizon.

According to reports ~ they're not *our* missiles ...

how can you retalliate against a terrorist group (which compared to a country, may be extreme but awfully small).

By the way, flashkit seems to be ahead of CNN, BBC and all the other news networks. I have sky and we are about 20 mins ahead with this today.

Bush is due to announce something at 1am (GMT - UK time) which i think is 11pm US time.

it was just confirmed that they are 100% not our "missles" but part of the civil war that has been going on over there instead.
