let me tell you a little story:
Sorry, Harra
are you saying that everything anyone draws is art ???
WOw man, I think it's time to pay attention to the vocabular used in this discussion!
Harra talks about 2 different arts: "art" and "Art", (mind the capital, guys ;))
Maybe let me tell you a little story:
Not so long ago, a few years or so, there was a very exclusive exhibition in one of Germany's finest and most famous museums. It covered an "unknown" artist, and no name was given...
On this exhibition the finest art critics (the "crème de la crème") were invited to have this first encounter with this "revolutionary" artist, and media coverage hyped the event!
Well, all the critics were really, really... *really* impressed by the artist's simple but yet very 'expressive' work. They all talked about the work in superlatives: "the unbelievable balance of...", "the extremely expressive tones..." etc.
(The work in fact was quite 'childish': just simple fat strokes of primary colors)
In the end they revealed the "famous artist": do you want to know who the artist was???
....
Well.... it was the ELEPHANT OF A GERMAN ZOO:)
He painted it with it's "tube nose" (sorry don'y know the english word ;))
Hahahaaa, you should have seen the critic's faces, oh boy!!
Well let's get on with this discussion!

"De gustibus et coloribus non disputandum est"
Hi Harra,
well than we agree :) (finally?;))
It's absolutly right that there is a lot subjectivism involved here.
Didn't the Romans already say "De gustibus et coloribus non disputandum est" !
Can I please now get my name back :)

CU !!
P.S. nice stuff on your site ;)
BTW: there are some kind of specifications of what art is/should be (see "Art history" and other educations at colleges and universities...) But there are only few people who have the right feeling for that. I'm talking about fine arts here, so that is another discussion...
