Is there a possibility of including dynamic text or text that can be loaded from an external file?
Thanks Roger, SWISH is one of the best programs out there. :)
Hey, not sure if this has been mentioned, but (what i get anyway) when i sometimes click preview, the movie doesnt play correctly, a text effect is missing or goes in the wrong direction, something silly. but when saved and opened in a browser it works fine, must be a bug? anyone else had this?
Also Panels, they get annoying if you accidently move one of them and it attaches itself to another, then it takes 10mins to get it back to where it 'spose to be... just annoying. thats it, rest of the stuff has been mentioned
Cheers
Drakey
bug: Somehow when I was resizing an effect directly to the left of a frame with 'place' (I was dragging the right end of the effect to the left, away from the play), the place got extended to 2 frames. Not really sure how it happened, I know its nothing, just in case it matters.
What tools would you like?Quote:

You can already customise menus and toolbars.

Also I would like to see loads more effects and some new types of effects (instead of explosion, transform etc)

SWISH has panels already .. and the toolbars are resizable, dockable, floatable, and customisable.Quote:

Create a toolbar entry for it and/or a hot key using the TOols menuQuote:
2. Icon for preview in player instead of submenu.
Same thing (when we give you a Export to project exe option)Quote:
3. Icon for create projector (possible?)
There is one already .. have to look up the URL for you as I've forgotten itQuote:
3. pdf manual online
They seem quite different to me .. got any suggsetions?Quote:
4. icon change: more visual distinction between new scene and new sprite
You can zoom with the zoom tool to zoom to a rectangleQuote:
6. window size maginifcation controls - a slider or finer control
What has this to do with news versions of flash?Quote:
7. meta tags - controls for those of us who use newer versions of flash instead of having to edit by hand everytime
Swish remembers the folder you use for SWI files, SWF files and HTML publishingQuote:
8. source and destination folder options instead of default
SWiSH publish to HTML is a sample HTML only .. noone should seriously use this to give a complete web page. You can always edit them out.Quote:
annoying:
1. automatic swish meta tags
Have you looked at the help files .. they're pretty detailedQuote:
2. lack of detailed documentation on use until you discover the boards or unpick others swi's
Which icons .. and please tell me what 'standard' you are referring to. We've used standard windows icons whereever they exist.Quote:
3. icons are non standard
We've had one of those long before flash decided to get one .. its the Outline panel.Quote:

text boxes (for forms) are non-trivial to do. We'll do them sometime .. its just a matter of when we get the time etc. Its not helped by bugs in flash player source and SWF docs from macromedia.Quote:

You'll be able to do thatQuote:
Wish List.
----------
1. Scripting (like for loops, conditional statements,
variables), I would like to send the movie
head to a frame number and play the effect 5
times before returning back to the original
position. More like a GOTO statement.
Only have forms if we get the time and can work out the MM docs on it.Quote:
2. Forms. (Input Boxes, Variables with data types, time
and date functions, etc)
Tricky to get a User Interface for it .. its seomthing on our wish list for a later version once we can nut out the interface issues to make it easy to use and consistent with existing SWISH UIQuote:
3. Shape Tweeining.
We try to avoid such specialised effects, and rather have effects that can be built upon and customised. When we've got the level of flexibility we want for those, then we'll look at providing specialised effects (either in the program or as smapel effects).Quote:
4. Effects like Lens flare, flash light, Starfield
simulation as a background effect. Spotlights etc
The effects you want you can do with existing effects, then save in a SWI and copy/paste to reuse in other movies.
You can put Javascript into a SWI file .. there is nothing much else we can do .. you get as much and as little support for javascript as your browser supplies.Quote:
5. Better Javascript support.
There are lots of tools for making screen savers from SWF files with all sorts of options and features. There is little point in us competeing with those as there is not one single solution and we've got other things we can do to improve SWiSH instead. Animated GIF's .. hmm .. maybe .. depends on licensing issuesQuote:
6. Save as Screen Saver/Animated Gifs.
SWiSH buttons look only as good as you draw them .. Swish v2 doesn't have its own buttons. It DOES display a blue button-like shape as a placeholder for an empty button while you're editing .. but that's not really a button. You have to draw the button yourself (or find some of the free SWF buttons on the internet and import them).Quote:
7. Better looking Buttons.
There are already fill options (solid color, gradient, bitmap image). There are the only filling options SWF format supports.Quote:
8. Fill tool for objects
Draw them or import them. Same as those who originally drew them did.Quote:
9. Flash looking backgrounds. you know like checker boxes
and stuff.
Are you really just looking for more sample files?
That's definitely on our list (though I don't see it being any more or less vulnerable than and other method) .. but the solution we've bought in (crypkey) is rather fragile (as evidence by the bug reports of people having problesm with their license/keys)Quote:
10. Improved key generation security, I believe there is a
huge flaw and Swish security is vulnerable to this
abuse. I'll send a seperate email addressing that issue.

What I meant by the Movie Explorer improvemnts is that it needs clear indication of all the actions used, jus like in flash. It gets quite complicated sometimes searching for the right object/ action used.Quote:
What I meant for background invisible is not when you publish, to make the background invisible, but when you inport a graphic with say black background you could easily select object options and select background white. Have you seen Director 8.5 Roger? Tht is what I am talking about. Hope you get me..
I wish for "TextFields" input & dynamic...I could live with just input for now though! :D
SWiSH & PHP would be soooooo sweet!
Cheers...ziggy
Wish:
1. To have a wizard or someway to build a flash menu like on macromedia website...
2. To be able to right click on any flash object on a webpage and open it in Swish 3.
3. To have a template for a start up page for a webiste where it has the feature to skip the prievew.
4. Windows XP type look of icon's for swish 3.
Additional Wishes:
1. Also is there any text fields that are possible.
2. Advanced features for possible database connection(possiblity I don't know but it is an idea)
"2. To be able to right click on any flash object on a webpage and open it in Swish 3. "
Isn't #2 real close to, if not actually, theft? I know there are programs out there that enable you to do such things but for SWiSH I don't see why one would need to. "Create Flash without Flash" not "Create Flash by using Flash someone else already created".
It wasn't my intentions to steal there work just to see how they built it...
How about Dynamic text so the same text effect could be applied to different length text strings kept in an index? This would really save me a lot of time plus should reduce file size.
After reading 12 pages on this thread I'll add a wished for feature I didn't see:
A graphic representation of which object handle is being referenced on the Swish transform panel. This is to replace the current drop down with 'Top left', 'Top right' etc. Like the little icon on the transform palette in Adobe Illustrator.
On another note - even though this is only my second post on this board in a year I have been following the Swish story for quite a while. Well done to the Swish team on a fantastic program :)
Regards
Shaun
Please make able to paste a text from office or whatever without losing the format (paragraphs etc.)
Swish is great and I'm sure that its getting better...
Roger - did I miss out - was I too late with this post:
Also - thought of two other features that woudl be on my wishlist:Quote:

1. Ability to address multiple targets easily with a tell target command. eg seperating names with a comma... (If you can already do this and I just don't know - ignore this...)
2. Call me lazy if you like, but a facility to add rounded corners to rectangles drawn in Swish would make my life alot easier...
Ta
Shaun
vitruvius -
1 - i don't think it's allowed w/in the Flash API to have a TellTarget command that refers to more than one sprite at a time.
2 - select the rectangle object. click once on the drawing area and release. move your mouse to where you'd like your rectangle to extend to. now click and hold the mouse and drag back towards the middle of the rectangle to round the corner.

I hat eit when that happens - a feature has been present in Swish all along - and I have had my head in the sand :)
Thanks for the tip...
