There are Mac specific problems with the Flash program, that is why Macromedia has specific downloads and fixes listed for the Mac platform. I use an old Mac just to preview my pages, so I am not directly involved with the issues of developing Flash product on a Mac, but I think a forum for discussing Mac specific topics would be helpful.

its one common problem that people have between platforms , mac and pc , whether it be IE or just general patform file problems , flash and any other sort of designers need to be kept up to date and informed about possible problems between platforms .
I have replyed to a lot of problems between mac and pc and your concern about a possible board is totally valid .
I support a board on mac and pc problems all the way .

I think that people need to be concerned with the differences between mac and pc ,
deisgners depend on this knowledge , I know that i myself do and am glad that i know some of the dofferences between them .
I have noticed a lot of posts about compatibility problems whether it be for ie or just general problems .
It is a case of working out all the possible problems , I am not tto sure on what may arise but i know thast anyone who designs flash then has their friend say it doesn't work on a mac needs somewhere where they can post then get an answer from mac and pc desingners who know what p[roblems may arise , rather than have their post lost in the genral or flash 5 general help sections .
I believe that is very plausable and indeed important in bridging the gap between cross platform design .

Totally agree!!! maybe someone should bring this up to Macromedia and tell them to make both versions compatible?? i dunno..

I agree i dont use mac but i think all mac users should have the chance to get stuff also or whatever im just agreeing and trying to add something to teh end to make me sound smart lol

It would be great if there was a board for Mac issues, since there are functions that a PC can do, and that a Mac can't. For ex., you can import a WAV sound on a PC, and not a Mac. On a Mac, it has to be a AIFF.
In reponse to some people's concerns that they don't want a Mac vs. PC debate, as a dissatisfied Mac owner, I'd like to hear the benefits of owning my Mac. Also, I don't think it would be any more segregating than any other board. I don't visit the Flash 5 board, because I have Flash 4, but it doesn't bother me that it's there.

I'd like to see a place where the development of cross platform solutions, work-arounds, etc. are discussed. This would allow those highly passionate about thier particular systems to better communicate and interact with, as well as understand, users of different systems. I mean..."can't we all get along?"....lol But seriously, this is a serious problem which I am currently facing. I've been hired to help a local design studio build a Flash site. I work on a PC and they are on MACS. Since I'm building the framework and actionscripting and they are doing the graphics and animations, it would be helpful if I could import their movies and libraries.....!

hmm, what's the problem with opening mac flas on a PC? about the only thing you may have to do is add a file extention .fla to the file name and windows are gonna recognize it.Quote:

I've tried to anwer mac questions I've stumbled across on different boards, a single place to go to see these cross-compatibility issues would be VERY helpful for Flashers of both platforms. So instead of a Mac board, I agree with those who suggest an OS cross-compatibilty board.
99% of the use of Flash is identical on both plaforms, so I don't see the relevance in a platform war. We come here because of Flash not because of our computers. For example, have there been any heated intel vs. AMD threads?
Oh, and the PC guy who has to work with the Mac design team: you should have no problem as long as you remind them to put the 3-letter extensions on all thier filenames, to give you raster images in BMP or JPG instead of PICT and illustrator files in version 5.5 eps.

it's a good idea.
Pc users are a majority in this forum but the Mac still is a standard in the design industry and its importance should not be underestimated. Macintosh users have to deal with issues unique to that platform. On the other hand, solutions borne from the way the Mac OS ticks can be beneficial to pc users.
A space dedicated to mac isues will benefit the whole community.
Ohh my prayers are answered. :D Look at all these peeps coming together in harmony for the cause of the macintosh! I have been trying to find time for months to put up a flash site to deal with mac specific flash issues.. (www.flash4mac.com) but i don't have the time and i didn't want to take away from the glory that is flashkit. A Mac board would be magnificent! glorius! spectacular! stupendous even! i want it bad enough for 5 people, so do i count for five votes? :D
