Not sure if it will help, I have an HP which came with Windows 98, I upgraded that to Windows ME, then recently upgraded to XP. I bought the original computer about 3 years ago, and got XP probably around January of this year..Quote:

Chances are you are running a 32 bit version.
verify version: Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type winver.exe, and then click OK. The version number is displayed in the About Windows box.
You have to have an intel itanium cpu & a 64 bit chipset on the mobo
