Yes in a perfect world there would ba a Flash Designer and a Flash Developer
Noooooo. Keep it one product. They shouldn't even have
a made standard version, I see this leading to problems when
trying to help people on FK for example, "What version to you have?" etc.
I guess they couldn't come out with just the Pro and expect
everyone to be happy with the price increase and that
new activation scheme.
I've never been a fan of the 'lite' and 'pro' version products.
Make one good solid product.

See, the thing is that I think Apple did this right with the recent release of both Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express.Quote:

Final Cut Express is basically Final Cut Pro aimed at people who are working solely with DV and do not need all of the additional features in FCP. In exchange, they are getting a program that is on par with the big brother at a significantly reduced price. It makes sense to purchase one or the other.
The two versions of Flash being offered seemingly have the same feature set, with certain elements you might need offered only in the pro version. You are already paying the cost of product activation no matter which version you buy (even the, what, amateur? version has increased in price). There are few compelling upgrades for visual people in either version, yet the ability to natively export video is reserved for the pro "coder" version.
This is not to mention all of the DRKs, Royale, and other products which do similar but different things which will be coming out soon after the release.
It does seem like they are trying to "sucker" people into paying a bit extra for the pro version ("I'm already paying this much more for the software, why not pay a bit more for things that might be missing from this stripped down version). I see no way to upgrade to the "full" version if you decide later on that you might need something like video export short of a full upgrade or new software purchase.
I'm really having trouble seeing the justification in fracturing the market in this way, and I think that the company being purposefully vague has a lot to do with that (ie. we can't talk about it, but we can hint about it to our controlled community, then link back to what you say as long as it is positive).
Anyone know the exact date of it coming out? It might of been posted already, but I didn't look through the whole thread, so...
Mid September. No official date yet...
It's september. They should be ready to give a date out. Silly Macromedia.
:)
Thanks.
My main grief with this release is that it's come out too early, still now when I'm working within design agencies I'm asked to design for Flash 5.
Do any of you know why the plug-in never had some kind of auto-updating system built into it?

The Flash Player 7 has an auto update feature.

I read from someone who should know that its 15th Sep. Itll be whenever it is .. speculating about it won't make it come any earlier.Quote:

What's the system requirement for Flash 2004 for Mac? Is 9.1 ok or do I have to buy a new computer?
