it could possibly be larger. Maybe even a flat color to bring it out. It all depends on what your using it for.
SOLID BLACK...
Will look really good... maybe give it a little black glow roung the edges aswell...
I like it, is the bg effect the paper or is that being printed?
this project is for the web. thanks for the help. any others?
:: pic updated tell me if it is any better ::
Get rid of the texture on the font since its not coming out right, or find another font that accentuates the texture better cause right now its recedding too much. Also maybe try toning the contrast down on the paper, its standing out too much. That might be your problem. Trying toning down the paper or bringing more definition to the font.
i really would like the font to have this kind of texture. tell me what you think of this.
That pic is definitly more noticable in terms of the logo.
1. Try bringing the logo down a few pixils. Maybe 3 or 4 should do the trick. That way you still have the flow of the logo and the background graphic and enough seperation to distinguish the two. I am feeling that you are trying to get a uniform feel with the logo and the blotchy paint look. So if thats the case that should help.
2. Inside the font there is white opposing the cream colored background. Fiddle around with that and see if you can brighten or accenuate that some how.
I think you are pretty close.

I would really suggest changing the pattern within the text, maybe getting rid of it, maybe changing it. The text just blends in with everything else, unless that's what you want. I agree with robbmcaulay, in that black would look much better, and maybe some bigger text.
Maybe darken the text fill. Don't change the pattern within the text, just experiment with darkening it.
while it does look cool, how will it look with content on it? through some text on it really quick to see if it is even worth finishing.
I do like the looks, if you can get it to work, it will be awesome! deffinatly worth at least 2 all nighters.
ok fellas. i lowered the text, changed the color, and added a text box for a better look. i am still working on incorporating the style in the header into the text. but tell me how you like it.
cheers,
Hi Bfly,
With typography, it's all about the contrast. A nice thing to appreciate about fonts is that they make a statement on their own, and rarely need augmenting. Nothing wrong with messing with them, but you have to make it worth the loss of clarity. I think in this case, since you have a fairly active background, simple can make a strong statement, and busy will get lost in the mix. I uploaded a few quick examples for you. In all three I used solid black, and put a bit of drop shadow under the last one. I did a serif (good for titles) a sans serif (obviously bad for titles, looks like ass ) and a script. You can see that they read very easily, and at smaller font pitches than you were using. Also, I think your beveled text doesn't match well with that nice bg you drew. My personal opinion is that in the case of a nicely done bg image, a solid color font works best because it doesn't try to join in or compete with the image. It's just there on top, looking good and clear.
Hope this helped. :)

thanks everybody! you have helped me a great deal.
check out what i have so far. i was thinking about editing the header now. using the same shape maybe just changing up some colors.
what do you think?
yes! Looks better without the drop shadow.
