you need preloader!!!
even if they are the simplest looking thing, you need one for your website, and also your client's website i looked at.
look up how to install one
other than that, your site is nice
-BLZ9000
It has a preloader, but perhaps I messed up the code?
you probably did, when your in flash, you can check to see if it works by:
export your flash movie in flash,
click view>download settings (select either 56K or DSL/Cable),
then click view>simulate download.
now you will see how it loads as if it were on one of those connections.
if that doesn't work, try exporting your movie as flash version 6 instead of 7 if your using flash mx 2004.
if THAT doesn't work, try getting some different code for another preloader.
if you go to one of my sites, check out my loader, and if it works good for you, ill send you the source code.
just e-mail me at blaisekgerstung@aol.com, and ill send you the fla and some instructions if you want
good luck!

Leave the menu alone when you go to a new section.
hey ryan, wow im really impressed, you have some nice stuff here. here are a few problems i saw...
-font is blurry... check ur pixel fonts.mcs etc, make sure they are on whole intergers. if they are and if u are loading content into a target window, make sure that wasnt resized to check, go into the transform panel and make sure everything is 100%
-you logo on the splash page, instead of square, make it a circle, it will fit better with the graphic u have on ur main page.
- your masking transitions b/w pages is really really choppy. wut FPS are u using?? how did u set up the transitions, did u use a midfram script?
-add some type of contrast to the image, like burnt orange or yellow, not alot but maybe for links or some kind of text
-have ur swf be centered instead of being aligned left
hope this helps
Tracy :) great job
i really like the background graphic...and my favorite color happens to be blue. i think the transitions between the pages would be even better if you made them faster. also, the text from each page doesn't disappear when the boxes do when you click a different button, which seems strange. good start though
Thanks everyone for your comments:
Blaize, I'd be interested in the preloader you have. I also didn't know that you could similate various download times within Flash.
Alexxlea, I'll set it up where the menu stays stationary, because it does look a little redundant now.
Tracy, those happen to be pixel fonts, but I probably expanded them by accident when editing the button and stuff. I'll check the sizes like you said though.
DMB, the background was an accident as a result of trying to get a different result in Photoshop; however, I decided to keep it because blue happens to be my favorite color also. Oh, how do I make the boxes disappear when a user clicks one of the links? I would love to be able to do that.
Anyway, thanks for everyone's constructive criticism. This will just make me a better designer. I'll post the revised version soon.:smoov:
the boxes do disappear when you click a link. Are you talking about making the text disappear when you click a link?
on a picky side note you never want to inform the user they need flash all the while having a .swf in the background. If can imagine a. what your site looks like with out the flash background, b. the popup from there browser letting them know they need a plug-in etc. Offer a static html page w/ the site requirements. If the user needs the flash plugin offer a link or a static version of your site.

I second that motion!Quote:

I'm confused....notion or motion? :rolleyes:Quote:

either really ;)
LOL....you've got too much flash pumping through those veins of yours :)
i'll take that as a compliment!
i can give you the preloader i have, but as you mentioned before, about having a loader for things within flash, it's possible, but iv'e never done it before. what i have done however is link external flash files into the main swf, and i would just place a "fake" loader that would stay there, then as the external movie loads, it will come over the "loading..." text. i do know that it is possilbe though. iv'e tried to put a loader on an external swf, but it didn't work for some reason, i'm yet to figure it out.
but anyway, if you want the scoop on how i do my thang, just let me know.
Yeah. I want them to disappear when the link is clicked.Quote:

well it's hard to say not knowing how your page and transitions are set up. whatever technique you use for the boxes, you could probably use it on the text too. other ideas could be making the text a MC, and then doing something like textMCname._visible = false; on release of the other buttons. then you could set the visible property of the text of the button you clicked on to true.
Hey everyone. I made some changes by listening to most of the advice. It's still in the works but let me know what you guys think.
