I'd like to see some addition for the use of <b> and <i> (and both combined) in dynamic HTML text fields. Currently the styles don't seem to show unless font outlines have been included in the swf (using extraneous text fields).
I guess this would require additional options for including character sets (embedded fonts) in the text options box.
Please see my post for details:

I'd love to see Extend, Trim etc functions for lines that aren't orthagonal etc. But that's coz I'm just a CAD freak.

What about some form of CSS type control over the placement of Symbols ...
I know that if you change the content of a symol it is changed globaly throughout your moive, but how about being able to change its position globaly throughout a moive, relative to the main timeline.
(This would be great for headers/content inon-line Flash presentations)

Yeah... we have beaten the footer testing ground on views.
I've never seen a thread so heavely answerd.

My F6 wish list is the following:
Method() to release Flash hogging 100% of the CPU for when heavy animation and CGI/server requests are being released on the same page as Flash at the same time!
Easy "entire timeline, level & stage" selection for those times when you just want to move the entire stage around because "edit multiple frames" feature still requires selection of everything you want to move and is unreliable.
AS window to open at the size of your code automatically, with auto hide when you move out of it
Sharing libraries is a bit dodgy especially with shared fonts
A standard selection of fonts built into the flash player, not just device fonts that could be anything on the users machine. even Flash's _fonts arn't in the player??
All player versions in the test movie for testing purposes
Link to auto-update the test player to latest version
FPS based upon time, not the CPU (don't know how though!)
Testing based upon CPU speeds like that for the "show streaming" option to see it streaming over different modems/ connections if the above ain't possible
Test movie with the same features there would be in the Browser preview
Fix the scene dissapearing bug in edit mode
invisible selection mode to see whats happening to the object when you edit it rather than ------ style which hides the edges.
Snap to pixel ie snap to 100.0 not 100.8 which requires anti-aliasing and therefore seriously more CPU. If the shape is made up right-angles anti-aliasing isn't really needed for horizontal and vertical lines!
More options in "right" click menu like transform, color, stroke, fill etc
Text box's that are WYSIWYG in all modes especially the differences using embedded fonts or not etc.
Being able to name library items the same, if they are of a different type eg graphic, movie, button
Draggable masks (without having to use the reverse trick!)
Dynamic targetable textboxes inside of buttons for button labels
More shape tools
_brightness option, not just _alpha for scripting
Free for students not just slightly discounted
SAM : )
like in director, the ability to select a large amount of code and hit one button to comment it all out
I didn't read all four hundred pages, but what I would like to see in 6 is:
- export to SVG
- easier way to create dynamic text effects
- perspective or warp tool w/ actionscript equivilant
- macro sounds cool
hey phil, can you email me, i wana ask you something about the city scape that you did.
Some type of 3D rendering within flash. Text effects within flash. A way to change the movie size that allows you to have an anchor point (similar to photoshop's change canvas size) that holds an anchor for all the symbols.
Flash 5 interface should stay.
that's for starters
and another thing that HAS TO BE FIXED IN FLASH 6 OR I WILL BE MAD.
The possibility to dynamicly resize masks !!
movieclips in a mask layer should be fully controlable just like movieclips in normal layers.
to add actions, variables everything.
would make flash a lot better.
and another thing i'm quite disturbed with is
flash should make the possibility to disable the right click menu completely.
maybe even the possibility to replace it with your own customized menu.
that's what i have for now ;)
Man the thing that pissed me off about Flash 5 help tutorials and ive only just done it so I know, ive only just started learning and when heavily into the reading of flash 5 help i go to see where the next help topic is next down the left list and it doesnt have it hilighted where i am( the indexes on the left of flash 5 help!)do you get what I mean i was reading right thru them and couldnt tell witch part I was up to next.Because the title of the topic i was reading was not highlighted on the left.I dont know if other ppl exsperienced that but i got lost a few times.
And Man why dont they have a simple square scaled down box so you can see exactly where your flash page is going to end up on the web and how mutch room it will take so you can see all the differant bits in a page layout and adjust each one easily.Like one big sqare witch is your page layout and a heap of little sqares with your flash scenes in each and each one if ajustable.
I think although it can not change now , that all the names that they call the things should have been diferant like film , motion film add a button add a menu to your web page instead off all these stupid names like instances , tween,
there the little things I found but one the other token I have to say flash 5 is one of the most brilliant things ive found for web site design.
And im only just toaching the surface. i just think if they want it to reach more ppl that it should be written out in the instruction in a more down to earth way for the begginers and for just anyone to use it plus suppling whats needed for the more advanced users.
there my first impressions!!
I would like to see the FlashTyper engine built in as well as swift and swift3d
that would be sweet.
okay i have 2 move things that would be VERY usefull in flash 6.
1) the possibility to refer to components dynamicly
like this
action = mouseDown
onClipEvent(action) {
}
2)
dynamic text should have the possibility to be alphatized and tinted .. everything static text can do
if i have som more i'll write them down
and i think this thread needs more problem solvers instead of suggestions like build in swift and FlashTyper tool
with my suggestions you can make the build in FlashTyper tool easily by yourself
and why build in swift ?

They promised in Flash 5 to fix the soundcard issue, I hope they get it right in 6.
-- Rollout state built into button symbols
-- all basic HTML form elements and Dreamweaver goodies (such as "jump menu"s ship with the program as "smart clips"
-- Full or nearly full HTML support -- should be able to load HTML page (graphics and all) into a "scroller" clip
-- carousel (scrolling windows of images) built in as smart clip
-- news system built in as movie clip (reads from flat file, can be changed to dynamic source) -- headlines in scrolling boxes, arrows to navigate headlines, text box, scroller arrows for text box
-- Browser window width awareness/polling, not just scaling the movie to the window's dimensions -- so one could always have an object that's 20 pixels to the left of the right edge of the browser window, for example
-- stretchy sections of movies (not just scaling to window size)
-- Moving whole sequence of keyframes "relatively" without changing the sequence to a movie clip
-- bitmap information window has "edit" button to edit the image in Fireworks (or other app)
-- some basic bitmap manipulation in the program, eg. blurs
-- distort added to skewing, sizing, rotating controls
-- timeline layers can be organized into folders, like library -- again so you don't have to go "movie clip crazy"
-- some basic 3D, at least for vectors
-- some basic engine for SWIFT or FlashTyper like effects
-- read and write external data files
-- bug or confused-user fixes on Mac side: rulers, hangups until another tool is selected, shared libraries (cool idea but must work without a hitch)
AND I'D BE A HAPPY BEAR FOR NOW!!
--- whirlbomb.

Please tell Macromedia to add:
1. Object oriented everything. I want everything to be an object that I can access and fully control with script. This includes buttons, the mouse, the Flash player and ideally even some external (to the player) objects like the browser window.
2. A much better manual with a programming language type feel. I have wanted an in-one-place taxonomy of all objects and their properties and methods and list of all events. I don't think I should have to buy a third-party book for this kind of reference info.
3. This may be dreaming, but I believe Macromedia could develop auto-preload capability, where Flash works out what needs to be pre-loaded, instead of the user overtly having to specify it.
4. Flash 5 does some funny things when you group instances with actionscript with other instances that do not possess actionscript. The actionscript should be transferred to the new group, rather than become effectively disembodied by staying attached to the sub-object within the group.
Just some preliminary ideas.
my wish is to quit getting notified about this thread.
importing in different 3d formats
so i can design something in truespace
and flash it
