Now, this should SERIOUSLY be posted on the homepage of flashkit.com
This was posted in the coffee lounge eariler - I expect we will see it as site of the day or something similar soon. Seriously cool work - very very nicely made.
Basically the effect is made in the same way the made the matrix bullet time effect - Get a ring of cameras around the subject and file them all off at the same time (for static image) or sequensually (for slo-mo). If we say £100 per camera (a thats a low end static digi camera - I would guess more expensive one were used here) you'll need maybe 100 cemeras for a scene - £100'000... :-/
A
That'd be too expensive for an ad like that IMO. I thought they must've used a blue screen for the subject and the surround in 3D......technically, I'm not sure if it can output the same result, but it sure is cost effective....
wow!
/me drooling
One one the best effect i've seen this year
Amazing - Great post man
Hey Thats a really exciting effect.
One of the posts above has clearly planted the seed for a poormans version of this time splice effect. Video your subjects pretending to freeze on some kind of turnstyle spin them around for the smooth dolly around, bear with me on this idea.
Then with your 3d application and photoshop composite all the impossible elements, hair flying, water spilling water drops as particles, sparks mid life cycle and so on.
A bit of 3d tracking and all the other technical aspects.
I know I have totally oversimplified this process, but with a lot of planning and a fraction of the cost you could get a very good quality mock time slice.
Now where is my camcorder.
It is a Fantastical effect though isn't it.
That's a phenomenal website. Thanks for sharing.
here's how bullet time photography works: http://whatisthematrix.warnerbros.co...et_frames.html
Am loving this site - that is so well executed. i've had a go at this type of photography before and it is very difficult to get it as smooth as this.
BTW, bullet time or 'time slice' as it's properly called (the matrix boys didn't invent this technique) was around in 1980. it was invented by a chap at Bath Uni. check out: http://www.at-bristol.org.uk/Educati...timeslice.html to see his rig of cameras
that was hot. i wish i wouldve never showed these guys how to actionscript - now look at them today. ;)
that was crazy, definatly a innovative a fresh idea, although i agree that the effect was probably created using some high end 3d software, it seems alot more viable. probably gonna be seeing that one over at the bombshock lounge at ultrashock, awesome piece of eye candy
The other way is to use 3D rendering and a good Photoshop retoucher.
This is how:

sorry I missed this one. It'll be the Site of the day for tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing!
Well, let's say it is certainly stunning,
and actually it had been done quite simply, just as earlier said: you simply take a lot of camera's and place them in a 90 degrees circle and let them shoot at the same time. Then move the set of camera's to another 'set' and photograph the next 90 degrees of movie. That was the shooting of the raw material.
Then they placed the photo's in a flashmovie with a frame for each photo, clip them together and make a scroller (like in a panorama photo) and there you are... you have a brilliant flash movie where a lot of people shall talk about.
And as some of you know, most stuff used to film movies are always rent, so I guess IKEA also rented this set of camera's. Could be done for a 5.000 to 10.000 euro's a day I guess.
Some nice examples of where this technique was used are:
- amerikan baseball, there already had a lot of camera's on regular distances in the stadiums so it was easily to compile their shots together. nice for taking a look at an offence.
- the movie 'wimbledon', here they did the slomotion thing very nice on a way you would harly notice it but when you've an eye for it, it's really stunning. in the extra features of the dvd they let you see how they've done it.
- and yes, someone could do it in 3d (like in the game: command and conquer Generals) but for a good shot It would really cost you far more then simply with the picture thing.

Stockholm company 'sto.pp' are responsible for creating the post production on the ad, Kaka Entertainment are responsible for the web side of it.
Is here any professional flash designer that could tell us in what kind of price range we should place this site?
