Hi guys, if anyone could give me their thoughts on my website:

It would be great.

Me and a mate both agree that somthings "not quite" right with it. -- But i carnt put my finger on it.

Others i've shown it to say its fine, but i dont know.

Any thoughts, ideas or recommendations would really be apriciated.

Its basicly (hopefully) going to be a site where people can submit games/vids/pics and let others see them, with a forum. Its all automatic, so the site resizes the images, ringtones, and lists whats new etc.

Well first thing I notice is that it is a cms.
Second thing is that your module header name images are resized. This pixelates the image and make it look horrible.

The image in your flash header is pixelated and has jaggies around its edges.

Hope its of some use.

Yeah man, thats great. What resolution / size monitor do you have if you dont mind.

I dont know what "module header name images" are :(

ok I know your not going to want to hear this becasue it mean a whole lot of work but I will say it any way. I think almost all of your images are really compressed to high this makes for really pixulated. So basily I would try running them through image ready again and have the compression on the j-pegs set to about 60

No man, thats just the type of comments i need - honest ones :thumbsup: Asking mates or family is a waste of fooking time.

Thanks very much, i'll give the images a go. - i went for low quality, fast loading, but on my monitor the images looked ok. now both of you have said they look shiit, i'll change them.

Im think of changing the design again anway, im not sure i like it. What do you think to the overall style of the site by the way matey?

Hi, Im running 1280x1024 on windows xp with IE 6.02 and Firefox 1.07.
The images I was talking about were intsall3,whats new, welcome news, etc.
As far as the overall style of the site.. Ummm, dont like it. The cms(content management system)look doesnt do it for me. I wont say I havent used a CMS, here is one I put together for a gaming clan:

More than anything else with your site I think your color choices that I didnt care for.

The muted blue grey of the site doesnt convey a real sense of passion, that mixed with the colors in the header that dont match the overall color scheme kind of put me off.

Hmm the headers of the sections have a glitch on my FireFox/Windows system.

I'm planning a total rework of the design now, getting away from the blue, and going to try somthing red. :thumbsup:

Also, maybe make it look less like the usual cms, anyways i've got some ideas.

Hmm yea I don't like the gray circle thing too much. Really doesn't fit here. And what is this CMS everyone is referring to?

CMS = content management system... sorta like it's a website and all you need to do is log into a admin area, type in what you wish and then publish it.

What's the framework behind the site?

Also, as far as layouts go, I see a lot of issues. The "dots" in the menu make it look like it's poorly saved/compressed. Also, the way the menu is laid out just doesn't really look all that good... the text being angled as such doesn't lead well to readability.

You have an overlay of circles from the menu to your html bottom part, and it creates a seam that's quite ugly and possibly easy to avoid. Fill from the bottom up and then fade the top part to avoid that seam.

Other than that, I just guess the layout isn't as involved as I've seen on a CMS/portal website and it could be made to be a bit more modern. For instance, http://www.battlefarm.com is a great, well-thought out skin for a portal site.
