Couple of things:
Cemrin - God doesn't exist mate, trust me on this one. Whatever your argument for this existence of God - you're wrong. Simple as that. Anyway - the thread is about animals.
Cemrin - Hedgehog tastes good BTW.
Every animal has exactly the same rights as the next animal. You get lost in the middle of Africa and you're surrounded by hungry Lions - you're going to tell them that you have more right to be here than them? You're going to tell them that you're supreme above them??
Listen - humans are just animals. Nothing more. We've just got slightly more powerful brains that have allowed us to RECORD OUR OWN PAST which means we, as a species, have accumulative knowledge. But that doesn't set us apart from other animals in any other way.
There is no right or wrong, there are no rules as to how we should live with animals.
What do you think animals are here on Earth for? They're not here for any reason. That's the point - we ALL exist in an evolved world - we are all the product of the world we live in and it's past.
It's quite simple really - It only get's complicated when you worry about it and start attributing fictitious Gods to things you can't explain.
Now - Where's my veal topped with a seared slice of fois gras?

I think we should stop using the word god in the CL and just refer to it as "your invisible friend".Quote:

I respect that its your view to interperet the bible very literally. I was just pointing out that being religious doesn't necessarily conflict with recognizing or believing that living things evolve. You asked a public question that assumes the context you believe. I think its fair to say that most people, religious or not, don't really believe that animals have been assigned literal purposes. They dont share your context. A better question might be "what purpose should animals serve to us?"Quote:

I can also respect your doubt of the will to power. But, your argument against it seems to contradict arguments I assume you must hold for other things you believe in. For instance, how can you logically conclude that the bible is a true version while Nietzsches writings are not?
The reason I mentioned that its open to interperetation is just that Nietzsche had a unique way of writing his philosophies with a lot of prose and metaphor. So, its open to interperetation what he meant exactly. I didnt want my brief summary here to be assumed exactly what he meant.
I'm not trying to discount your ideas or cut you down or anything. Just offering some different ideas to consider.

OK, guys, I have read all your responses... and I must say... that its all opinion... still ; we hold what we think is true... and thats our belief... and I hold all your opinions in high respect.... and Indivsion, I did not mean to say that they would never find the Missing Link, what I meant to say was that its likely improbable to find a missing link, unless you make a really good hoax figure.
And I would like to challenge Loydall's belief that my "Invisibe Friend" does not exist... what proof do you have that he does not exist? Could something come from nothing?
So why conflict with this issue? Thats not the point... I was sharing an open-view of a look at animals and the long debate of animal rights....
Now some of you seemed to have either misinterpreted what I was saying in the Introduction , or did not read it at all....
** The topic was not about do animals deserve rights.... it was about the view of what purpose animals serve on earth, (what Indivision said).
Now, I respect all your opinions, we all have the right to free expression, and I hold that in great respect.
Thank you for all your opinions. You have even given me some pointers as to discuss my own beliefs... and have inspired me in this way as well.

Bottom line is, the question has no real value as a guideline, but that's perfect for the CL. If 50 people post, there will be 50 differing opinions. The society your raised in will determine in large part, how you feel about animal rights. And your society is largly determined by the prevailing religion. Me, I'm an athiest, but I think all species are just as important as any other. Worms have as much right to live as people do, maybe more, since worms don't wage war.
Sue me, I'm an instigator...Quote:

I will be retiring from FlashKit Community Forums for a while... yes I know, I'm a bit early in my stages to be declaring this, but I feel that I need some time to come up with some fresh material and learn some more about Flash and Music, so I can help you all out better.
Now that I've said this, some of you are probably rejoicing at the fact that I'm gone, but I'll be back, I just don't know when. :)
And yes, I posted this for the people who "hate" me.
