It is my understanding that the person has been banned from FlashKit. I also intend to report the situation to geocities where he is hosting.
Stoke Sorry I didn't respond to your message I was actively dealing with this dude the moment I came online here that day and had him banned.
Brett, as much as i appreciate your comments, it was someone else, who I took the time to inform that I thought might have the decency to say thanks.Quote:

It's not a big deal but as it's your Exchange I figured I would offer the opportunity to not have any dead links before a user reports one of the links dead.
I'm going back to being just a regular user of KM who quietly picks up / pays for updates as needed and I wish you all the best.
Chris
Stoke, if you are referring to me, I did respond - 7:30 am 8/25. Your anti-spam environment may have blocked the email.
OK, I and my staff have checked all incomming, but we did not receive your email, Glad that we were able to get the perpitrator removed before he could effect any real harm. Not an issue, lets move on.
Great addition to the Exchange Steve
Thanks Chris
I was playing with it for my daughters site, I am not sure if I will use it but its a nice little example.
Thanks for the php!
Steve
Don't forget Flashkit now carries KM code. The download numbers are crazy and you'll get some exposure along with your submittals to the KM Exchange.
Great job, couple of minor things.
You've included temporary files, and I get a not so pretty display here
see attached.
Strange...I was under the imprsssion these were tested BEFORE addition by the mods. Live and learn I guess.
Give them their money back Steve if anyone complains :)
Ive left the debug panel in the stage and it looks like one of the .txt is missing.
Can I send a corrected version?
Steve
odd I just loaded the one from the server and its fine. You have dragged the debug onto the stage and seem to have lost "headings.txt" ?
Did it work for you Chris? Did you try it?
Steve
No...since most of mine were always pre-checked I assumed it was functioning. I'll take a look today though if you want.
I still say you should also mirror whatever submission you make to the KME also at Flashkit...they do in fact bug check and also run live SWF previews (as well as mention you in the Newsletters here as announcements) so any anomolies are usually apparent in the running SWF they request in the submission form and there must be KM users who hit that who have no idea the KME exists (although I find that hard to believe...but the numbers are completely supportive of that).
well heres one with the temp files deleted but with the same logic it works for me so i would be grateful if someone could give it a whizz.
Thanks
Steve
The SWF that is inside the package is the culprit. All I did was export a new one into the folder (without changing a thing in the fun file) and it worked fine:
All the mods have to do is smoke the included SWF and package without (after all we assume the user has KM) or create a new and repackage.
yep I just saw that too....
heres one with the swf smoked and no temp files for the mods please
Thanks guys
Steve
Now that I have in fact looked inside...sweet code man!
Works fine Steve, like it.
p.s. you might want to take a look at this, there will be one in your area soon! All About Here
You are another one who should consider mirroring KME submissions here Stoke.
Now your talkin my kind of language!!!!
Lol
I must have missed the joke Brett
Let your numbers work for you Stoke.
You took the words right out of my mouth!!!!! :pQuote:

Wasn't laughing at you, I just liked your response. He's right I keep meaning to upload some stuff to FK but just haven't had the time.
You should man...some of your stuff would get just gobbled up. Some of my stuff I assumed..."well...they just want the backends" but some of it simply would require the person to own Koolmoves which makes it interesting, odd and kindof cool all at the same time. Either way the download counts are massive so someone is in there
Drop a few lines in the help files pointing to KM and who knows...might be a convert or two :)
Ok Brett
Chris I'm getting some suff repackaged for them up there soon
Steve thanks man, yep the calendar is from Wilbert's site, and did you spot Chris's switch hitter, which is in the popup all about home to produce the quick A to Z.
If you look at the minisite advertiser you will see one of my templates being put to good use, and at the bottom there is the link to the shops, and the site that was in the site check about instant shop. This has been a 3 month project and it ties together a whole spectrum of my activity. There will be one of these in towns all across the country soon. p.s. I got the .com too!( tomorrow the world!)
If you want the link again it is all about here
I used the calendar on the bands site too http://www.hathernband.co.uk :-)
I noticed the links to the shops.
Good luck with it
Steve
Off topic - but my 100th post - no reason just felt like a milestone
Steve
It's AVATAR time !!!! Whatcha waitin for?
I need to whip out the tuba huh?
[edit] Now I feel at home :) [/edit]
According to Koolexchange my last submission has been downloaded 791 times already :-)
I can't believe it is that good so I guess there may be a problem with counts on the server?
Steve
The server is fine. :)
It is downloaded that much :(
Allmost all from one IP address that traces back to a host in Rio de Janeiro.
It looks like someone was trying to attack the Exchange or just being funny.
I don't know how many times it is loaded by someone else. Do you have a suggestion to what value I should reset the counter ?
The Exchange needs a download gate then. I know who built the frontend....who built the backend?
Only 20 or so - it doesn't really matter.
What would anyone gain from that kind of attack?
BTW - Stoke - 300+? Eat your heart out!
Steve
I think it was at 41 and going strong when I looked at it for you.
Disregard that backend question...I have a feeling it's not tied to a relational database.
EDIT:
It's done to eitherQuote:
What would anyone gain from that kind of attack?
1. crush the server
2. make the server exceed it's allotted bandwith for the month. Picture that using a 4+ meg file transfer with a constant download by the same IP or ten of his friends directed to do the same...the totals would creep up fast. Once exceeded the person who owns the server would have to pony up dough to continue for the month or sit with a blank page that says BANDWIDTH LIMIT EXCEEDED until the new month arrives resetting his total. That is why we gate normally.
Pointless...Quote:
