LOL I see how it is. I throw down a challenge, a topic that you could get really creative with and it is spit on. ;) Ok fine i'll make it a bit easier.Quote:

I keep forgetting about this forum :)

mechanical is cool with me. shouldn't be too hard
Alright by this weekend I shall have something very mechanical up here :)

wow, it's been a long time.....i will have a post tonight
That actually brings back quite a few memories. Black and white was definitely a good way to go.
Totally brought back memories for me as well...
Black and white really works to bring out the contrast between the bleached branches and the rusted metal. I also like the idea of like... the organic taking over. So many different ways you can look at this. First things that come to mind are like... First life growing back after the war has just left behind relics. An abandoned piece of machinery slowly returning to the earth.
Anyway, that photo is very effective at evoking emotion, as good art should.
holy crap I have been slacking bad. I will go on a walk after work tonight and find something mechanical and if not I will cheat and post some mechanical stuff I took about 2 weeks ago on a trip- which actually was taken after our theme was agreed on...sadly
but tonight there WILL be a post so check back!
i've heard that before ;)
the more i look at the last one i just posted, the more i hate it. i really think i should have just stuck to one photo rather than having 3 up in one layout...especially with 2 different orientations. oh well.
37 minutes(and add on some weeks there) late but here it is...

i really really like that, wannabe
do we get to see the original? please?
Yeah, nice one Wannabe. Really captures the industrial vibe. :)
oh yeah sorry- here is the original. Also if you are wondering this is a shot of the inside of a submarine. Those things are SOOO cramped.

Next?
Sweet...sub guts. :D
thanks for the original, it's always interesting to see how you modify from the original :)
and how the hell did you come to be in a submarine?!
A trip out to see the lady in NH one weekend- we went for a ride and saw it was landed and you could go in. $5 to go in but it was cool to check out. 40+ guys in the little thing at once doing work. I felt cramped with the 2 of us :).
I will post other shots in the photo forum in the next few days.
oooooh lefteeeeeeye- next theme?
I have all weekend to myself- so I will give you till tonight to get with the theme ideas or I will pick you one will hate :)
muhaha
Wannabe: What did you do to that image man? It looks fantastic. Absolutely great. The maniped one almost looks doom-ish. Very very nice mang, quality stuff you've been putting out.
I really need to start writing down my process for my post I do on FK.
I think it was along the lines of- levels, curves, gradient map - lowered opacity to let some color still come through, high pass sharpening. I think that was it.
Either way, it looks great. Quality work man.
Thanks.
So left eye- how about "formations" as the next theme?
sure. formations is cool.
Just finished shooting my formations shot- now I just have to sift through these 122 shots to pick the best :)
How's yours coming along? I should have my shot, original, and setup posted by tomorrow night.
*edit*
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I shot ALL of my shots in iso 1600! This type of picture will NOT benefit from high grain. Now I have to ****ing reshoot this whole damn thing! Oh well at least I got the process down so I should be able to whip another shoot together in an hour or less. I will still have my shot up tomorrow night.
take your time man. I'm getting married in 2 days and then going to Aruba for a week. I'm pretty sure i'll be able to get a shot while i'm in paradise, i'll be back the 12th...probably won't post until the end of that week.
oh you son of a *****.
jking- have fun. I am sure you can find some good "forms" in Aruba ;). Just make sure you actually come back :).
no guarantees :mrpimp:Quote:

Nice! I will have mine up tonight. I have a few ideas for what I might post for my final image but I will post my old shot I was playing around with to show you what I was trying to accomplish before you left.
I will be submitting a "natural" formations entry as well to go along with you.

Next theme? You chose so I can't think of ideas before "making it up" :)
hmmm wanna try a technique rather than a subject matter? like panning, DOF, lighting?
what do you think?
