grrrrrrrrr.
only got it because it was offered with the pc.

took me hours to set up the vinyl cutters with corel... even setting up corel and the rest of my software has taken hours.

bit defender wont work, vista keeps shutting it down even though ive just paid for it.!
2 of my usb drives wont work.
the 2nd monitor switches from expanding to the left to expanding to the right with no warning.
windows media player is full of bugs.
oh and the qiuck link to desktop knocks half the desktop out.

and i havent even got round to installing any of my design software yet.

i have no idea if there are vista threads, but heres another.
grrrr.


other than that its bloody great.

any issues with studio or cs2?
if so im going to get a nights sleep before i even bother.

CS2 works fine.

My biggest problem is starting up Visual Studio 2005 gives a "Windows found a problem" message with no solutions, but the program works fine anyway.

VS2005 takes forever to load for me on xp pro, As nice as it is on occasion I just don't bother with it anymore.

I'll only try it after the first or second service patch.

Make sure you have Service Pack 1 for the VS2005 Express edition apps. It should bring a bit more stability to the suite: link.

I don't know why so many people have had problems with it. I'm still running RC2 and all of my software works just fine. The problems i've had have been very minimal. Even all of my hardware worked right out of the box without me finding any drivers.

I tested it on my box with beta2 and everything worked perfect. I only did it to test I still really like XP.

Business N here, All good so far :) Afew hiccups, and I'm waiting for the Media Restore Pack, as without it I can't do alot of random things (rate my system etc)

I'm seeing horrific load times within Flash 8 Pro as far as fonts go. I mean... there's only 188 fonts and it loads like there's 2000 or so.

That's Windows Vista Business. Photoshop CS3 (beta) just friggin' screams on Vista.

I've had mixed. I had it on my laptop and it was fine (Fujitsu T4210). I now have it on my much superior desktop, and it CHUGS. What a pile of trash that operating system seems to be. It wants to preview any and all files in order to make icons, which slows down Windows Explorer.

I've had a number of issues with different files locking up and coming up with errors. I've had problems with compatibility and with running things like VLC media player and such. The DRM slows down the operating system like there is no tomorrow.

I suppose it's as to be expected. Prior to that, I had taken Gerbick's phenomenal advice to install 2003 Server, which was the best thing I had ever done. That operating system is blazing. I don't understand why MS can't just forget about trying to turn the PC into a glorified DVD and Stereo system, and just focus on applications and gaming.

i still have a wierd issue with flash 8 everytime i double click on a symbol on the stage to edit it it does the wierd zoomin thing and takes @ 10 seconds to get to the screen where i can edit the symbol. then when i click to go back to the stage is does a wierd zoom out and takes another 10 secs.

i finally recorded whats happenening cause it seems kinda 'wierd'
the fps of the movie is low but its realtime. you can see its just a simple symbol i click and it takes @5 seconds to actually get into the symbol where i can edit it, you see a wierd dotted rectangle zoom in from the box after i double click it. and when i click the stage it does a reverse zoom out kinda thing. its alittle hard to see in the video but its SO annoying!

I do admit that I have this problem and it drove me crazy at first but I live with it now. I also can't import video into Flash without it crashing.

Dude... I never tried importing video until tonight... it didn't crash... just closed the app, sent a report.

sorted all the probs with all the corel software by downloading about 15 patches.
cutter works fine now and everything loads fast.

i worked out the issue with the screen.
when i have the 2nd screen to the left and expanding to the left.
when i then have a chill out moment with neverwinter nights going into the game was causing problems with the screens then when i came out of the game it would all be round the wrong way.

simple solution for that is turning off the screen before i go into any games.

the bug with the desktop is still there but i daresay thats a sp1 patch when it comes out.
the bug is still there with media player but again i daresay they will fix that with the first sp.

my biggest issue now is with security.
i read somewhere that norton are suing microsoft about thier firewalls etc being deactivated by microsoft.

does anyone know how i can stop this?
BitDefender works great when im using email etc but as soon as i open up IE windows shuts it down.
Ive shut the windows security down but as soon as i reboot it all actiavtes again.

This is annoying for me because i know how crap windows are at having anything relating to the word security.

What version of Corel are you using? I'm going to be upgrading to 12 soon. Are you using X3 yet? Is it any good? I'm at the end of my rope with 9. It just keeps crashing and generally screwing up.

I bought X3 a while ago and i love it.
Admittedly i just use it for my cutter at the moment but i find it quick to load and easy to work with as well.
Its not crashed on me once or even shown any errors and doesnt seem to suck resources either.

The layout is the same as 9, just a bit tweeked.

Interesting. Mine would get to the part of the wizard where you can choose the codecs and stuff but the wizard would be blank and then it would stop responding.

well, by "just closed the app"... it just disappeared.

yep. and Photoshop is listed as "Not Officially" Vista compatible... with some issues.

Same for Adobe Flash 8.

when you import video what kind of video were you importing? i know with riva i couldnt convert wmv 9 ( i think ) to flv

Quicktime *.mov usually for me.

Mine was AVI files using the DiVX codec. I was able to take the same files to my XP machine and import them without a problem.
