It's generally a bad idea to use pop-up windows. The main preloader shows the percentage loaded in increments of 20 - the 'display board' flies by and then peeks in from the sides very briefly - this last behavior seems somewhat odd. Maybe you could make the preloader more interactive/responsive, i.e. have the plane and background tilt in response to the user's mouse movements.
Otherwise, this is an excellent site! Very creative, great visuals but quite data heavy - maybe you could preload more of the site, since a large portion of the data from the initial preloader seems to go into the movie at the very start and the glittery effects.
I like it, but yeah... it's a lot to download for how much information there is. But it's all quite nice.
thanks four your comments guys: I am going to:
- reduce a bit loading time, and transition times between different scenes
- make a non popup version available
- fix the 'display board' fly
- make the loading plane tilt with mouse movement
about loading increments, I am making the 'display boards' fly any 10 increments, to avoid to slow down the player with too many of them.
Because of the language problem i can't understand the information given after clicking on the menu... Your creativity is really super.
In your animation after completing the chamleon animation it just standing untill the user clicks on the menu.
My suggestion is that the chamleon may do some action untill the user clicks on the menu......
Also give the relative action to the chamleon... that is for contact do postman.. action like that....
Kindly bare me for my language...
You are king of making animations......
Thanx Nalini_v, I agree with you about your suggestions, but I have the problem of file size to face: any chameleon action is an heavy 3d movie, so I am trying to keep it at minimum. Anyway I'll try to see if I can create some mini-movie for the home as you suggest. About "contact" section, the chameleon actually flies away with the message after you send it.
Thanks again
ok now preloder has some parallax movements etc. and transitions are faster. Is it better now? Thanks
Hi I am about to start a media design course at uni and its sites like this that inspire me to knuckle down and learn about flash and animation. I think your site is awsome. The colour scheme looks great and the concept of the site for me is also great.
Great work as far as I am concerned.
Thanks flashkevin and good luck with your design course!
It made me speechless, real nice effort...!
What else can we comment with??? How bout... if its possible, send every viewers a pet chameleon? I'd like mine to be able to drive too!
Jokes aside, brilliant and engaging site indeed.
thanx a lot guys
Beautifully designed but totaly usless, one of the worst sites for usability i have ever seen.
Your trying to make avg joe on his computer wait agers for every page to load and thats if he can find the pages as your navigation is terrible the entire site from a selling point of view its terrible.
You got to ask this client what the goal of the website is?
is it to increase there brand and marketing and in turn make more money.
Or is it to loose customers but show them some nice animations before they leave?
ok thanks Dragonusthei for your absolutely respectable personal opinion
Dude, Dragonusthei, that's awfully harsh. I personally have no problems with the site. I don't see how you find it hard to use.
It all depends on the company. I have seen many websites that just want to showcase their abilities and stand out, more than get across text and information. I for one, am all for atypical sites and ones that really pull you into the website and make you explore.
I think going as far as saying the site is useless is harsh. More than likely, it's not useless for everyone else. You may be one person that finds it hard to use, and more than likely, you are one person that they don't care about catering to. It's impossible to please everyone, but please don't just bash someone's work because it doesn't fit your personal taste. It is a well put together site and looks awesome.
No, it's not personally my favorite in the world, but it's not a bad site by far. The developers and designers did an excellent job executing what was desired.
Thanx MyFriendIsATaco: would you like to be my lawyer :) ?
Many thanks also for supposing some developers and designers behind the website: actually I was both of them ( it's a hard freelance life :). Anyway my client is really happy about the final work, and I think the funny profile of the website is quite appropriate to a very low cost furniture collection. About the loading times, I am afraid they are suffering also from having host server here in Italy.
I agree is very well designed but its usless from a usability point of view.
I have not said its not my taste even i think its a very nice design.
What im saying is avg users are going to hate those waiting times, they are not going to understand what the hells going on and there going to leave the site very quickly.
The whole point is this line is a stupid thing to say:
The whole point of having a website is to get as many people as possible on it and as many people getting a good association with your brand. The whole point is to please as many people as possible this site does not do that.Quote:
you are one person that they don't care about catering to. It's impossible to please everyone
That is not necessarily the case. If my website sells expensive jewelry, I do not care if a lower class person doesn't like all the gold and chrome colors on my website. (bad example, but you get the point)
Not all websites are meant to attract as many users as possible. Also, many of the most famous and awesome websites out there are very hard to use, but they are engaging. They make the user WANT to figure it out.
I believe that this site is engaging and makes me want to play around and poke things to see what happens.
And again, I don't find the site hard to use at all. I found it quite easy to click on the guy that said "MENU". Unless I am missing something here.
Look read my posts i have never mentioned anything about the design JUST usability.Quote:

Im sure the idea of this website is to attract as many users as possibleQuote:

this is not some guys family album site we are talking about.
Im sure it does, im sure its very easy and fun for some one who works with flash all the time. Is it so easy for my parents who dont even know what the address bar on intrernet explorer does?Quote:

Average joe is not going to be having fun poking things hes gonna be wondering whats going on and leaving very quickly.
Also can I just ask what really well done sites these are that use the same sort of flash hard to navigate features.
