Does anyone know what Director does that Flash 5 can't? Can Flash 5 do anything that director can't? Does Director also use Action Script? Is Director worth $999? Which one is better for web...

In Flash 4 or 5 click FILE and then NEW. Then click FILE and then IMPORT. Then select the .swf file that you want to work with. Then click OPEN and your good to go.
