jordz84..thanks for the link. I do a bit of chroma keying at times and there were a couple of good tips in that article that I'll try next time.
-
Sounds to me that the mov file, indeed, has no alpha channel. If you can get your hands on Adobe After Effects 7 pro...you can key out the background color, then export it as a mov file with an alpha...

You have to include the control .swf file, it is a separate file.

Good points, bmarker.
PullinGz, you really need a quality chroma-key screen and setup. If you are using video, use a green screen, it works a bit better. Video is more difficult because it tends...
-
You have to shoot the original production in front of a chroma-key screen. In a utility like After Effects you "key out" the background and export it as a video with alpha channel. The alternative is...
-
If the object has a chroma-keyed background, After Effects Pro has a plug-in that will key out the background. If the background is not chroma-keyed, then it's rotoscope city for you. Once again you...

Generally this is done by keying in After Effects and then exporting it with an alpha channel.

When using a CD for delivery, I always use the stand-alone Projector. It is an executable that contains everything needed to play the Flash presentation.

Nice site...classy....BTW works perfectly on my PC (Dell P4 - 2.6 GHz - OS WinXP Pro) Flash 8 plug in IE 6.02900 also works fine on FFox 1.5.0.6.

Owen, thank you for your contribution. When you say you are not a programmer, yet it works, you bring up one of the main goals a programmer tries to acheive. They not only want to solve the problem,...

The way I'd do it is in After Effects, then export it as a short clip then embed it in Flash. There are probably other ways that are more direct, but I find After Effects the simplest, for me.

I don't know the answers to your questions, but I have a question. Why don't you use flv?
-
-
Do you know what I find even more annoying? People who claim they have "looked everywhere" when the answer is right under their nose. This issue has been discussed ad infinitum.
Now that I have...

Mr. Geezer...that bit of news certainly made me happy. In the past, I have made quite a few Flash video CD presentations(along with Director), but not lately. I was looking forward to using Flash 8...

Does the FSR or Activate Object software work for this or is this one of those things that just requires good ol' fashioned "hands-on" coding?
-
I know this is a Flash forum, but this does relate to those who use Dreamweaver to build their sites with embedded Flash. There is now an update patch from Adobe/Macromedia (Dreamweaver patch 8.02)...
-
I just test both FSR and Object Activator and both work well with multiple embedded Flash objects on a page.
-
Mr. Geezer...yes, it's true and I stand somewhat corrected. I have used this option with satisfactory results. It works fine for pages that contain only one Flash object, but in multiples it gets a...
-
I tried out the Object Activator and it seems to work. I've already paid for the FSR ($15), but if that doesn't work out I'll pay the $25 for yours. At least you have a trial download to let us see...
-
Well, Mr. Geezer, that does mean a lot to me. I went ahead and bought it. I just hope I actually get it this time.
-
I think I'll wait until all the kinks get worked out. I'm not up to paying $15 for a beta right now....I do that enough with Microsoft.
-
Sadly, once again, it shows that there may not be a simple panacea for this problem.
-
Mr. Geezer...I have that one also. I used the workaround by Adobe and now I'm using Flash Object. As a side note, I just downloaded a couple of betas from Microsoft. One seems to be potential...

PayPal got a refund for me. Actually, I'm disappointed that the FSR thing didn't work out. I was hoping for a simple utility. It looks like this stuff is going to drag out for a long time before...
