most likely you have downloaded a font that was a demo/shareware, etc. What that usually means is that is will typically include A-z and a-z. The numbers and special chars are left out.

well not sure how you have then set up but generally with pixel fonts you have to use a point size that is a multiple of 8 (8, 16, 24, etc) ... also make sure that the placement of your textbox uses...
