Thanks to you both for replying. Checked with our server guys and they didn't re-cache all the pages. You were both right, so cheers.

I loaded an external text file in to my Flash movie using stop ();
loadVariablesNum ("tokyo.txt", 0);
It works on my desktop or local drive but doesn't work once upon the server.

Trakker, Many thanks. Now all I have to do is get the company to cough up $150.

Anybody know where I can get some software to create screensavers from swf files. A URL would be excellent!

Most graphics designers use the Mac OS but for those of us running Windows, do you think that the recent lawsuit by Microsoft on Lindows should be allowed? See this link if you have not heard about...

They are actually large financial institutions in the banking sector and have chosen to use animated gifs instead. Don't want to name names due to sensitive nature for programmer lay-offs. Decisions...

There have been a number of sites pulling flash from it's list of formats here in the UK, including 3 major corporations we know of (don't work for, thank goodness). Has Flash had it's heyday or is...

One other thought is to publish the flash movie and run the html file. The other is to check the associates (that's on a PC) and change the acrobat file to acrobat, not NN.
Flashdunce

There's your problem, NN. Just joking! It sounds like you have your browser set up to open Acrobat but it doesn't recognise the extension or format.
1) Try putting an extension (.pdf) on it.

As newcarpenter says add the getURL code to a button

Add the PDF to a button and add the file using get URL. This should open Acrobat by default but it depends on how the end users machine handles the association of Acrobat files.
Hope this helps!

Does anyone know the default font used in you select 'Use device fonts'. If I want to reduce file size by selecting this , sometimes I get times (or serif) or nothing at all.
Any suggestions

This was on a thread about 3 weeks ago. I seem to remember the solution being to have a layer with an image on it and another layer on top with a transparent backed flash movie on it. Therefore if...
-
Should be. I used Dreamweaver for this and had a layer including a Flash movie being overlapped by a layer with a table in it. Doesn't this work in IE5+ or NN4.6+ only though.

Good site, good layout. The only negative thing I would mention is that when you jump to the forum, or any external site and return the Flash site loads from scratch. How about a new browser window...

Impressed, took ages to download the first re-direct page, maybe you want to sort that out. As I'm not a ship fanatic, got all the questions wrong, but well done. Yuo may want to make the cannon...

Try starting off with the tutorials that come with Flash. Then set yourself a goal of doing something (animated buttons) and then learning that. Keep adding smaller bits until your site is coming...

isioux,
Don't know if this is one of your sites, but half of the movies don't load or take forever to load. Maybe it's my connection!

Try these games on mt HTML site and let me know what u think. Would u come back to these? They have been 'borrowed' from other people, but I don't take credit for them. Just an addition to keep...

Anyone know where I can find information/make a spectrum analyser for sounds like on the flashkit site under the sound loops?
Flashdunce

Thanks for the tip GmF. This was a little more complex as I couldn't use a movieclip and didn't want the sound to be on the main timeline (they load in to frame 1 automatically). Have solved the...

Satchm0, gparis, you are both geniuses.
This really helps as this is a solution I thought nobody could solve.
Only question
1) The movie fade is mentioned. What should the movie hold?

Does this mean you're gonna have a go @ eulci now or can I be 'whipped' for a little longer? Not to worry, it's Friday :o)
