since you put the action on the mc, it is telling the mc to go to frame 2, not the root.

use:

on(release){
_root.gotoAndStop(2);
}

instead of:

I ran some tests and found that if I save out of Photshop or Imageready, I can do it correctly and then from within flash use the "edit in fireworks." But, if I save out of Fireworks, I cannot.
